Samba fileserver limited to 50 MB/s on gbit
Hello, I am running a fileserver with smbd here. The server is a 64bit 2.8 GHz Celeron D with 2GB RAM, running 64bit Debian, Samba version 3.0.23c. It is running as a pure fileserver so its only CPU load is serving files. The client I am doing the tests from is WinXP Pro SP2. NT4 PDC and Samba 3 issues...
I upgraded an old Samba 2.x install on Debian that I had at a customer location. Authentication to the PDC was via winbind. An Interesting Issue in Samba Performance

IAX2 Softphone Quality & Network Cards
We are in the process of an Asterisk call center deployment using IAX2 G711 ulaw softphones. Outbound sound quality is terrible. This week we rebuilt the entire LAN with Cisco 2950-EI switches and have employed QoS on the switches and router. Still sounds terrible.
