Hello, I am running a fileserver with smbd here. The server is a 64bit 2.8 GHz Celeron D with 2GB RAM, running 64bit Debian, Samba version 3.0.23c. It is running as a pure fileserver so its only CPU load is serving files. The client I am doing the tests from is WinXP Pro SP2. ...t the problem is?. : I had the same problem here. The reason was a mismatch in network speed and duplex mode settings on manageable HUBs. Check all our network hardware (switches/routers/network-cards). Try to connect server and client to the same hub, check the settings off the NICs. Try 10mBit/halfduplex first, disable autodetect/autonegotiation - this may not work with some combinations of hardware. I do not think this is a samba problem. Hope this helps - good luck. Martin
