Wine success: HABit Wordstar Converter (version 3)
I had need of a bit of computer archeology (oddly enough, for a couple
of archaeologists, but that's another story). I used Henry Bartlett'

Trying to fund my Linux habit...
Okay, it's a bit sad having to stoop to this, but I'm desperately trying
to at least not have to shell out large amounts of my own money to get
gear for Linux development...
I'm thinking about setting up a PayPal account, but since there are some
recent, ahem, issues with PayPal and security I'm a bit hesitant. I'd
like to ask people if they would be inclined to donate

alias :calling :lambda
Sprinkling my examples with ''lambda'' has always seemed like a bit of a
wart to me. I''ve gotten into the habit of adding ''alias :calling
:lambda'' to my spec suites. My examples then look like:
calling { Foo }.should raise_error
calling { Bar }.should_not raise_error
Is there a reason that RSpec core has chosen not to make exception
expectations more

Moving users from Debian-based distro to CentOS
I have a Debian machine with four users that I plan on migrating to
CentOS. As per Debian habits the UIDs start with 1000.
Is it enough to reuse the Debian /etc/shadow and /etc/passwd files
over? Or will I need to configure some other things? I had considered
just creating four new users starting from UID 500 then chown -R -ing
the user's home directories, but I find that invasive and

beginner question - effective way to chart sleep habits
Hi - beginning R user question here - each day, over the course of several
months, I've tracked the time I go to bed, the time I wake up, and my hours
spent sleeping. What would be a good way to display this information? I
think it would be ideal to show something resembling a bar and whisker graph
for each day that would show the interval of hours spent asleep (or perhaps
just a bar

Ok, never run Gluster with anything less than a replica2 + arbiter ;)

table lookup n R
Hello R helpers!
I looked but did not find a table-lookup R-utility. I could use a loop to do the job (old FORTRAN/C habits die hard) but if I have a big table in which I have to search for the values corresponding to a vector, I end up logically with a double loop.
Is there already such a utility? Otherwise, is there a way without loops?
Thanks as always

Yes. So, now you should use "reply all", not "reply". It's quite hard
to change the habits :(

Licences
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to determine the licenses of packages we're using.
Is there a command (rpm, yum, up2date...) that will take the package
name as argument and return me the licence?
Or is everything included with Centos 4 GPL? That is the only licence
I found in the repositories... I remember that RH had the habit of
putting all the applicable licences on the

Mmmm, this should read as:

My spa has a mind of its own
I have a Sipura SPA-841.
It's developed a nasty habit. At random times, it likes to dial my cell
phone voicemail number and play my messages to anybody who happens to be
within earshot.
Any clues where to look at what's going on? My voice mail number
(extension 220 in my dialplan) is the only number being dialed.
When this happens, show channels looks like this:

Using existing extensions.conf macros, and co-habitation
I'm trying to set up my extensions.conf file using some of the existing
macros like stdexten, etc. while at the same time having two logically
separate virtual PBX's (with no "default" context) and two trunks coming
into separate contexts, i.e. one for residence and one for my at-home
business.
I noticed, however, that macro-stdexten depends on the "default" context:

upgrade to 4.8.3 authentication not work without specifying domain
I updated a centos 7 without changing the samba configuration. Before
authentication worked even without having to specify the domain to the
logon. After the update, on the other hand, it is mandatory to specify
the domain.

domain \ user password work.
I have 5000 windows (xp / 7/10) clients not in domain. Client workgroups
