Dell PERC H800 commandline RAID monitoring tools
We're looking for tools to be used in monitoring the PERC H800 arrays on a set of database servers running CentOS 5.5. We've installed most of the OMSA (Dell monitoring) suite. Our current alerting is happening through SNMP, though it's a bit hit or miss (we apparently missed a couple of earlier predictive failure alerts on one drive). OMSA conflict...

OT hardware issue: HP controller to 3rd party RAID
...ome in IR (Integrated Raid). If the server is PCI-Express v3, > then you'll want a newer card based on the LSI 2308 chip, such as the HP > H221 I mentioned) It's an old box, a DL580 G5. And we didn't get the card with the RAID. I suppose I can single path each RAID from the PERC H800, until budgets open up. mark

what is "single spanned virtual disk" on RAID10????
We have DELL R910 with H800 adapter in it. several MD1220 connect to H800. Since MD1220 have 24 hard disks in it. When I configured RAID10, there is a choice call 'single spanned virtual disk" (22 disks). Can anyone tell me how "single spanned virtual disk" work? Any document relate to it? Thanks.

semi-OT: HW
Running CentOS 6.7, on an older HP DL580 G5. We've got a Dell 12-bay RAID box plugged into a PERC H800 (aka LSI Liberator) that we put in the HP, and that works fine. We've got a new RAID (a JetStor), and are trying to plug it in. The layout is that the Dell RAID is dual-pathed DAS. Each PERC has two DAS ports. We've got the Dell RAID in the top port of each PERC. I *thought* I could just p...

Seagate Constellation vs. Hitachi Ultrastar
Happy Friday, List! I''m spec''ing out a Thumper-esque solution and having trouble finding my favorite Hitachi Ultrastar 2TB drives at a reasonable post-flood price. The Seagate Constellations seem pretty reasonable given the market circumstances but I don''t have any experience with them. Anybody using these in their ZFS systems and have you had good luck? Also, if

Dirves going offline in Zpool
Hi, I have Dell md1200 connected to two heads ( Dell R710 ). The heads have Perc H800 card and drives are configured in Raid0 ( Virtual Disk) in the RAID controller. One of the drives had crashed and is replaced by a spare. Resilvering was triggered but fails to complete due to drives going offline. I have to reboot the head ( R710) and drives comes online. This happened repeated...

test, and H/W
...nstalled in this server, the SAS 6 i/r. It likely worked fine in the R320 due to the age difference and the raid controller installed in it, I don't believe firmware updates will make the drive usable or extra space visible to the controller. <snip> IMPORTANT NOTE! Only the Dell H700 and H800 currently support the 3TB drives (H200 will add support later this year) - NO earlier controllers, such as the PERC4/5/6, SAS5/6 (or ANY other Dell controller not mentioned) have this support and in some cases, even though you may be able to see the drive, this has NOT been tested or validated, so...

Performance issues with iSCSI under Linux
Hi!We''re trying to pinpoint our performance issues and we could use all the help to community can provide. We''re running the latest version of Nexenta on a pretty powerful machine (4x Xeon 7550, 256GB RAM, 12x 100GB Samsung SSDs for the cache, 50GB Samsung SSD for the ZIL, 10GbE on a dedicated switch, 11x pairs of 15K HDDs for the pool). We''re connecting a single Linux

NFS Hanging Under Heavy Load
Hello all, I'm currently experiencing an issue with an NFS server I've built (a Dell R710 with a Dell PERC H800/LSI 2108 and four external disk trays). It's a backup target for Solaris 10, CentOS 5.5 and CentOS 6.2 servers that mount it's data volume via NFS. It has two 10gig NICs set up in a layer2+3 bond for one network, and two more 10gig NICs set up in the same way in another network. The host...

raid 10 not in consistent state?
hi everyone I've just configured a simple raid10 on a Dell system, but one thing is puzzling to me. I'm seeing this below and I wonder why? There: Consist = No ... /c0/v1 : ====== --------------------------------------------------------------- DG/VD TYPE State Access Consist Cache Cac sCC Size Name --------------------------------------------------------------- 3/1 RAID10 Optl
