Has anyone used a Dell with a PERC H310?
Hello Sa?o! I found you here: http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/zfs-discuss/2012-May/051546.html "How about reflashing LSI firmware to the card? I read on Dell''s spec sheets that the card runs an LSISAS2008 chip, so chances are that standard LSI firmware will work on it. I can send you all the required bits to do the reflash, if you like." I got Dell Perc H310 controller

OT: DELL PERC H200
Does anyone know if a PERC H200 is a real RAID controller? I'm about to build a box to CentOS 6.5 (it was Windows...) with RAID 6 on Monday, and this PE R610 has this.... I'm familiar with PERC 6 and 7s, but just dunno 'bout this one. mark

FreeBSD 9 and PERC H200
I got a Dell T110-II server on 2013-July-19. It has two 1Tbyte drives that the PERC H200 controls, RAID 1. I tried to install FreeBSD-9.1-RELEASE from a DVD from FreebsdMall. The autopart segfaulted, evidently because it could not find any disks. I think there is a PR about the segfaulting (bad bug, no messages). I worked around the problem by going to the loader prompt when the...

PowerEdge R510 with PERC H200/H700 with ZFS
Anyone have any experience with a R510 with the PERC H200/H700 controller with ZFS? My perception is that Dell doesn''t play well with OpenSolaris. Thanks, Geoff

ZFS + Dell MD1200's - MD3200 necessary?
We are looking at building a storage platform based on Dell HW + ZFS (likely Nexenta). Going Dell because they can provide solid HW support globally. Are any of you using the MD1200 JBOD with head units *without* an MD3200 in front? We are being told that the MD1200''s won''t "daisy chain" unless the MD3200 is involved. We would be looking to use some sort of

How many guests
Hi Everyone, I have a Dell R210 server which has a Xeon X3430 Quad Core CPU (2.4Ghz x 4) with 8GB of RAM. I intend to use the H200 controller in a RAID1 setup How many VMs do you think I''d be able to run on this machine? Is 20 pushing it? I''d say most (if not all) guests would be in PV mode. New controller card issues
Running CentOS 5 (long story, will be updated some day). A 5 yr old Dell PE R415. Whoever spec'd the order, they got the cheapest, embedded controller. Push came to shove - these things gag on a drive > 2TB. So, we bought some PERC H200's for it, and its two mates. This morning, I brought the system down, and put in the card, and moved the SATA cables. This did not end well. The new card seemed to see the drives, it loaded the initrd... and kernel panic'd every time when it went to switch root. I went into the card's...

Dell OpenManage
Hi Everyone, I have a Xen host (Xen 3.4.2) which is running CentOS 5.5 Dom0. I wish to install Dell OpenManage to get a nice web interface with hardware status. Do I need to do anything special to get this working on a Xen host? Or does it work out of the box? The reason why I''m asking, instead of trying, is that my server is currently on its way to a colo, and I won''t have

LiveCD will not boot on Dell R310
...e error "Unable to find a medium containing a live file system". Selecting one of the Debian kernels displays the message "i8042.c: no controller found" and then after a long pause displays the same Boot failure screen. The CD is connected via SATA and the RAID controller is an H200 which uses the mpt2sas driver support for which was not introduced until kernel 2.6.30 but the LiveCD is trying to boot 2.6.26. Is there an update to the LiveCD with more recent kernels? _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://l...

test, and H/W
...It likely worked fine in the R320 due to the age difference and the raid controller installed in it, I don't believe firmware updates will make the drive usable or extra space visible to the controller. <snip> IMPORTANT NOTE! Only the Dell H700 and H800 currently support the 3TB drives (H200 will add support later this year) - NO earlier controllers, such as the PERC4/5/6, SAS5/6 (or ANY other Dell controller not mentioned) have this support and in some cases, even though you may be able to see the drive, this has NOT been tested or validated, so possible data loss could be experienced...

Windows 2008 SBS suddenly disappearing on Xen 4.0.0
Hi all, when running Windows 2008 SBS on Xen 4.0.0, it disappears after some time (longest time I had it running was 20 minutes). In /var/log/xen/qemu-dm-win1.log I find: xc_map_foreign_batch: mmap failed: Cannot allocate memory xc_map_foreign_bulk error 12 Anyone any idea how to troubleshoot this? The Hypervisor has 16 GB of RAM, currently 2 GB are allocated to Dom0. This specific DomU has 8

Any recommendations on Perc H700 controller on Dell Rx10 ?
Hi folks: At work, I have an R510, and R610 and an R710 - all with the H700 PERC controller. Based on experiments, it seems like there is no way to bypass the PERC controller - it seems like one can only access the individual disks if they are set up in RAID0 each. This brings me to ask some questions: a. Is it fine (in terms of an intelligent controller coming in the way of ZFS) to have the

Bug#603727: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64: i386 Dom0 crashes after doing some I/O on local storage (software Raid1 on SAS-drives with mpt2sas driver)
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64 Version: 4.0.1-1 Severity: normal My 32Bit Dom0-crashes with error "Out of SW-IOMMU space for 65536 bytes" after doing moderate I/O on the local storage, which is a software-raid1 over 3 harddrives, connected to the builtin Perc H200 controller with ext3-fs. The error is reproduceable with "dd if=/dev/zero of=bigfile bs=1024 count=1000000" This bug only appears running this kernel as Dom0. Without hypervisor there is no problem with this kernel. Trying 32Bit HV or different settings for the HV or Dom0 kernel with di...

X4540 no next-gen product?
While I understand everything at Oracle is "top secret" these days. Does anyone have any insight into a next-gen X4500 / X4540? Does some other Oracle / Sun partner make a comparable system that is fully supported by Oracle / Sun? http://www.oracle.com/us/products/servers-storage/servers/previous-products/index.html What do X4500 / X4540 owners use if they''d like more
