R Interface handholding
...propriate native format and export to it..
any advice?
It might be worth mentioning that all of the code to do this will
eventually be auto-generated -- we already have code to do this for C
that doesn't need to expose people linking our code to all of our
custom structures and stuff.

Updated apc-mib.c
Hi,
I updated apc-mib.c to use the high precision values, and added input.transfer.reason.
I hope you will find the patch useful.

How can I limit samba users to just one login session ?
How can I limit samba users to just one login session?
I have some people logging in as the same user several times ..
.( don't ask...it's a partner company that has limited access)
I have no control over the users other than limiting their login to just once per user.

Session Control
How can I control share logins?
Here's what I need to do.........
We share a file server with a company upstairs. I control the access by
groups. RH Linux 7.3.
They are logging in with the same user several times.
I.E. user "Mark" is logged into the server 2 times.
I need to restrict him to logging in only once.
Samba version 2.0.7

Success!!
Looks like the system or user profile was not setting set when ssh logs
in and this simple change will fix it in my case.

Stripping silent periods from MP3s
I'm on Centos 5.5, and would like to use sox to strip out
any periods of silence > 5 seconds from a batch mp3 audio
files.
Googling I found sox, but it does not seem to support mp3
files by default.
The man page says:
.mp3 MP3 Compressed Audio
MP3 audio files come from the MPEG standards for audio and video
compression. They are a lossy compression format that achieves

Which is better for production: MySQL5 or PostGres8.1?
I''m coming from an Oracle and SQL Server background. I''d like to use
OpenSource for my next RoR project. MySQL5.x and Postgres8.1 seem to be the
most popular. I''d like some comments on which would be the better choice for
a production environment and why. Here are my initial concerns in order of
priority:
1. Works well with RoR. ( migrations, etc)
2. Stable enough

Capistrano, OS X
If you installed your copy of ruby via DarwinPorts, the hashbang lines
at the top of your dispatch.* scripts says "#!/opt/local/bin/ruby". This
is a problem, if you''re deployin via Capistrano to a host with a
different path to ruby (which would be practially all of them:-)
Here''s a fix. Add this "fix_hashbangs.rb" script to your script
directory.

Frustrated with RoR environment splintering
Why isnt the RoR community focusing on robust and scalable mod_perl style of
Apache environment, rather then splintering all over the place with
lighthttp, mongrel, WEBrick, SCGI, fcgi, etc???
Its frustrating as someone who is trying to migrate to RoR.
Its very unlikely I would ever get a contract to work on any webserver
except Apache, so it would seem logicaly to focus all our efforts to
