voip-info.org unreliable lately?
Anyone have any insight as to why voip-info.org has been up and down all day, and more importantly unreliable for the last month? I assume the bandwidth is being donated or something, but surely someone would be willing to donate reliable bandwidth as the knowledge hosted on the site (which is also donated!) is worth way more than the bandwidth. There is no doubt it is the best

Roaming Profiles - the next step
Thanks to the enthuiastic help of Mr. Dan Shearer and the excellent writings of John H. Terpstra (Samba-3 by Example) I have migrated an NT4 PDC to Samba 3.0.14a-2 on Fedora Core 4 (Cries of amazement) The clients (XP, NT4WS, Win2K, 98 and 95) didn't notice the switch (once I had made all the correct folders!) My questions now are fine tuning and filling in gaps in my Windows knowledge.

Cisco 6.0 gripes
So, after playing with 6.0 on the Cisco 7960 and 7940 platforms, I have the following gripes, which I've sent to a very clueful Cisco person already. Mind you, I love the Cisco 79xx series phones, and currently they are what I recommend to anyone who wants a 'real' IP phone. I just cringe - Speed dials. It's nice to now have speed dials in the line appearances that

Documentation gripes
I have been a member of the mailing list for a couple months now. I have not contributed anything because it has been difficult to gain a toehold from which I could really understand the concepts used in Ogg Vorbis. I would like to help out, but it is hard to get an idea of the overall architecture with docs like http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/vorbis.html , in which every link is dead.

WAS: Stupid hold music NOW: list gripes
>Anyway, isn't time to split this list in "strictly technical... >And lest we forget, another split for the Cisco/Polycom/Snom/othersipphone configurations... That would be short-sighted imo. Splitting the list or goofy offers to do the list as a PHPbb, NNTP, or other forums would only serve to dilute the value of the collective wisdom of the people on this list. Suppose the

AWDR Edition 2 Gripe
Maybe it''s just me.. But the cover is hideous. I love the first edition cover, it seems to fit perfectly. The new "hip" cover is a bad choice, in my opinion. Twice now with v4.15-rc6, my display has gone belly up. Note: swiotlb: suppress warning when __GFP_NOWARN is set v2 is applied, but I don't _think_ it was the first time it happened. samba 3 b3 and nt accounts
Okidokey things are flying here However I am a domain admin and as such when I logon to a win 2k/xp system I should be able to access the system stuff (like changing the domain) as well as certify a new machine to the domain. With the Samba user however I log onto the machine now and no longer have my admin rights to change settings :c( (I hate this quirk of xp/2k it's almost enough reason

What NAS device(s) do you use? And why?
If you use any NAS (or a SAN) devices, what do you use? And I'm referring more to larger scale network storage than your home PC or home theater system. We've had very good experiences with our NetGear ReadyNAS devices but I'm in the market for something new. The NetGear's aren't the cheapest ones around but they do what it says on the box. My only real gripe with them is the

...ing a blanket policy to a situation which (IMO) makes no sense. I forward every "disgruntled" email on to the people in question. Since they are the defenders of "Apple's public image", it seems fairly possible that it may eventually sway them. The more public the griping, the better. So yes, 'me too' emails are potentially useful. -Chris

RH7.2 journal creation
Stephen et al, You may remember me raising the point that the new e2fsprogs (1.25 as I remember) griped about old journals not having all the appropriate fields zeroed. I've just discovered that the RH 7.2 installer produces journals (ie on partitions created as ext3 from within the installer) that flag these warnings with a modified 1.25 e2fsck (the mods being to clear the errors rather

flac metadata
So I've just ripped my entire 600 CD collection to flac format (200gigs worth) with vorbis comments in the flac metadata. But my gripe is that neither Winamp nor XMMS's flac plug-ins seem to have the ability to read the vorbis comment from the metadata. Are there any flac players for windoze or linux that can access the metadata? Or do i have to add redundant ID3 tags to all my flac

Hi List, I had a wonderful meeting with GS's President last week and he is very interested in feedback on what top features, functions, bugs the community would like to see in upcoming firmware. Please keep in mind that adding new features take time to develop, test and such. So please rate your ideas on a scale of 1-10 1 = Nice to have some day 10 = Got to have it right now Things

Centos 6 First Install, gripes - cool things- tips/help
Finally got a new server the other day. You know I had to try out centos 6 with this one. dual quad cores, 24 gb ram (12 for each cpu) 6 working drives bays. My first big surprise was the partition system with anaconda. It is a lot different than the centos 5.x version. I am sure it is a bug that it has options for hot spares but does not allow it to be ungreyed out. I think in the end I will
