Samba4: Folder Redirection GPO not working with Windows 7
Hi I have folder redirection working fine in XP. I see that W7 has taken the same configuration as I made in XP. Here is a screenshot: Unfortunately, on w7, whilst the roaming profile is correctly set, there is no folder redirection. Nothing appears in the \\hh1\USERS folder for the user who has logged in. Upon opening the GPO editor as Administrator in W7, I get an error message about AD and sysvol permissions: 'The...

samba4, GPO and SYSVOL permissions errors
I'm getting an interesting problem. I can create/rename/delete/edit policies, but I can't change the security filtering or delegation settings. When I first open any policy, I get the following: "The permissions for this GPO in the SYSVOL folder are inconsistent with those in Active Directory. It is recommended that these permissions be consistent. To change the SYSVOL permissions to those in Active Directory, click OK." So I click OK and I get "Access is denied." The error I get in samba.log follows:...

samba 4 classicupgrade w7 clients errors - with a "windows need your credentials" message. Moreover, they seem to not have any kerberos ticket - running a klist shows no active tickets; and they do not have the time synchronized and sometimes they see a message regarding the time mismatch. We tried to set up a NTP time using GPOs without luck. Looking at the samba logs doesn't give a clue - just some errors which may be normal. Any hint to look at or any configuration/misconfiguration? Thanks!

Samba4 ADC cannot edit GPO with W2K3
Hello, I have been trying to setup a working environment with samba4-rc1 on fedora 17 following the samba4 howto at the wiki. DNS and ldap are internal. Everything looks like working, I can create and edit GPOs with WinXP Pro but with Win2K3 server I can create GPOs but I can't edit them. I cannot see any error at the log.samba file. Win2k3 gives an error that I will try to translate to english below: Group Policy Error: It is not possible to open the group policy object....

samba4, GPO and SYSVOL permissions errors(Timothy McDaniel)
You have to first find the folder that your gpo is in by going into Active Directory Users and Computers and then clicking properties on your domain, then click group policy, and then select your gpo you want to use or work, and then click properties then read what the name(Unique Name) of the gpo says: it will be something like: "{31B2F340...

Samba 3.4, Windows 7, Roaming profiles and Folder redirection
...ile sync for the network drive i would be redirecing to, is this a bad idea for some reason? I've had a look around at various documentation and details seem quite scarce. However all the documentation I've found is targeted at Windows XP or suggests using domain wide Group Policy Objects (GPO's). My understanding is that GPO's can only be used if you have a Windows AD server or Samba 4 however I don't have a Windows server and Samba 4 is abit too bleeding edge for a production deployment(?). If anyone can point me to some good documentation it would be really useful, I woul...

GPO not applied, problem with SYSVOL ACL
Hello, I have samba4 installed with Zentyal. GPOs are not applied. I can see with a client that in SYSVOL half of directories are missing, so I suppose it is an ACL problem. I tried resetting ACLs without luck. I see in some threads here that there are other people with the same problem, I would like to know if you have found the bug or a workaro...

GPMC Permissions
Hello all, I installed Samba4 from GIT (alpha 16, it says) and while most functionality is operational, GPMC continues to report an error in permissions, claiming the permissions for the GPO are inconistant with that of Active Directory. I can't correctly implement GPOs due to this, since only parts of the GPO (if at all) are actually updated on machines (WInXP SP3). Thanks for any input on the issue.

Removing password complexity requirements under Samba4
...xity=off sudo samba-tool domain passwordsettings set --history-length=0 sudo samba-tool domain passwordsettings set --min-pwd-age=0 sudo samba-tool domain passwordsettings set --max-pwd-age=0 Restarted Samba, did a gpupdate /force on the workstation, and it worked. No need to set up a GPO (although that would sometimes be preferable). We tried the samba-tool method initially, as well as a GPO, and were baffled when neither worked. I think we had our minumum password age at the default value (1 day) and were trying to reset the password the same day we created the accounts. In any...

(Samba4) Normal users unable to login
This is a freshly provisioned Samba 4.0.0-rc5 installation. I provisioned the domain and created shares in the configuration file to match an existing Samba 3.5.x installation that we're moving away from (or at least, that's the plan...) for various reasons. I then moved all the contents of the shares over from the old server to the new server via rsync, including home directories and

[Fwd: Re: Windows XP client - intermittent 'network name cannot befound' loading profile]
Doesn't really resolve the issue, but in my case the problem went away when using physical machines rather than virtual machines. The environments are identical - RH ES 3.0 with Windows XP sp1a client (no hotfixes or GPO settings applied). Thanks for everyone's help.
