I have just struggled to implement a Samba Domain Server, and have some remaining issues. I have a Samba PDC using tdbsam, managing a domain called RHEA. I have (finally) configured a new Samba Domain Server (AUREUS) using winbind and idmap_rid. When I am logged in to RHEA as user GMCH I can access a TMP share on AUREUS (at last). Hi all, I have been tracking -STABLE on one of my home machines for a little while, now and noticed something the other day. I was given this system, and I have only run FreeBSD-STABLE on it. The motherboard is a Supermicro370SWD with an Intel 810 "Whitney" chipset (82810DC100 GMCH + 82801AA ICH). The docs say that there is support for UDMA66, but FreeBSD reports that the drive is being set to UDMA33. Rejoice! We have found a trick to make 830gm/845g stable at long last. Ever since the switch to GEM and dynamic video memory, those early second generation chipsets have been plagued by instability. The lack of flushing cachelines from the CPU to GMCH was eventually solved by using an undocmented bit, but 830/845 were still hanging under memory pressure. I just updated to RELENG_7 from 6.2 and I'm running into some really annoying issues with jerky mouse movement and skipping sound. This seems to be similar to: Re: SCHED_4BSD in RELENG_7 disturbs workflow This happens both with 4BSD and ULE. I seems to happen when I'm compiling ports and a new cc/bzip2/sh process fires off (I'm just watching top), I'll get the skip/freezeup.
