Xen Cloud questions
I''m using Xen 3.4 on Debian Lenny, and a web interface (still in dev),
to have a eye on all the stuff.
I saw the Xen Cloud project, but I have some questions about it.
Can I summarize Xen Cloud like this : "latest" Xen Hypervisor with
"improved" API (OCaml replacing python and more stuff) which enhance
informations about all Xen hypervisors in same time, to provide a

Pitching Asterisk
The company I work for is looking at vendors for a PBX, one of the
requirements is VoIP. I have been sitting there listening to people
pitch very proprietary implementations of VoIP where you are locked in
to their hardware, their interface...
I know a little bit about asterisk (set up a couple offices with it...
run it at home...) and would like to pitch it to this company. Does
someone have a

UI font in CS4 all fubared
...er, and there's nothing in it.
take a look:

of course it's usable, but it'd still be nice if my nose didn't have to touch my (glossy!) screen to be able to attempt to read what some things say.
any help on which font is used that i have to install?
thanks in advance! keep up the good work!

impact of R and S
It is interesting how things have changed -- 5 weeks later, I review
materials collected at the JSM, and notice that Springer-Verlag's
glossy statistics catalog has 3 of 9 books on the front page directly
or indirectly related to R (Peter D's intro book, MASS, and
Parmigiani et.al's book with a number of Bioconductor-related
chapters).
(one could argue that 8 of 9 could use it -- it would be interesting

Haegemonia (Hegemonia) and shiny surfaces? Effects missing?
Hello! :)
Explanation of the problem:
For several years now it is impossible to render "shiny" (glossy, vertex shaders), effects on ships, planets and generally metallic surfaces in Haegemonia. The problem is that newer graphics drivers on Windows systems changed/lack a feature the game exploited to get these effects. Way back when I was mailing the developers of the game, I was told that it worked...

SR-IOV with Broadcom NIC??
Hi,
We recently purchased some HP Gen8 servers with Broadcom BCM57810 NIC
controllers. I am running CentOS 6.2 on these servers configured as KVM
hosts.
Has anyone gotten the Broadcom chips to run with SR-IOV on CentOS 6.2?
Any clues on how to get it working?
I see from the Broadcom glossy marketing docs that this chip supports
SR-IOV, but I cannot find a procedure for configuring it. The Red Hat docs
show how to configure the Intel chips and the Emulex web site includes a
procedure to configure SR-IOV with their chips. In both procedures, there
are vendor-specific steps.
It is al...

Ultrabook for CentOS?
Hello,
I need to buy an ultrabook. Any recommendations for something that
would work out of the box more or less?
I do not want a Chromebook (or anything ARM) or one of these new
"touch" laptops, in fact I'm after a nice matte screen. Budget is
modest-ish (?500/$800) so dont go crazy. :)
Thanks!

...rk printers. decent linux support for
printing. the scanner function can direct email scans in PDF or JPG
format, so there's no need for linux drivers for scanning.
I have a seperate Canon Pro100 large format color photo printer, this is
an ink jet, uses 8 seperate color cartridges. on glossy photo paper, it
makes photos that look like they came from a pro photo lab with very
good subtle color rendering and wide gamut range. fairly expensive per
page. Unclear if there's linux support for these (my color
printing all comes from Windows).

Some questions about R-(D)COM
Hello Thomas,
I am writting to you because I have some questions about R-(D)COM. The
first one is whether it can compiled using the MINGW C compiler, that
is recomended by B. Ripley to compile R under Windows.
The other questions are:
- How can I open/close connections directly from C/C++?
- Do you know about a free Visual Basic compiler?
The final purpose of using R-(D)COM is to create a

Merbivore.com - Mockups
There''s been some discussion on the IRC channel about getting a site
for Merb going. Since the culture around the project is pretty
casual, I figured I''d just throw a few ideas together, see what you
guys think.
So, firstly here are three example pages, just to show off the
general look and feel.

getting rid of hp c3180
I have a hp photosmart C3180 all-in-one and am well and truly sick of it.
It seems like every time I go on another printing binge,
I need yet another print cartridge.
hp-clean doesn't help.
IIRC this use it or lose it "feature" is common to inkjets.
What should I replace it with?
If I want a non-cloggging printer,
is laser jet the way I need to go?
I'd like to do color

[cfe-dev] RFC: Moving toward Discord and Discourse for LLVM's discussions
FWIW I'm a fan of using open-source stuff for open-source projects.
Discourse looks open source, but Discord doesn't as far as I can tell (?).

Might be buying a Mac
I might be buying a Mac tomorrow. I checked out the new 13.3in MacBook at the new Apple Store on 5th ave in NYC. I''m torn between the smaller MacBook and the MacBook Pro. We have a pro at work and I''m not that thrilled with the way it feels. I like the keyboard much better on the 13inch. However, I think doing development on that small of a screen could get frustrating. Any
