Speeding up :dependent => :destroy
I have a tree of models that represent a book. Looks like this: book sections documents paragraphs index entries glossary entries footnotes index entries glossary entries These are all models with has_many from parent and the child has belongs_to. They also all have dependent => :destroy pointing down the tree. Delete a section and it nukes everything beneath it....

Hold the phone!
Just a little pun there! I've been mostly lurking for a couple of weeks and realize how little I know and understand about this PBX and phone stuff. I did a little looking about and came across a glossary but they terms are -- for me -- kind of out of context. I'm wondering if there is (much as I hate the term "Dummy") a "PBX for Dummy's" or similar. I've got the experience with Linux but the ZAPs and SIP's are getting me down. TIA, Rod -- --- [Certified V...

Terminology merging
...t looks like we have a bit of a merge problem as other terms have been floating around that seem to conflict with some terms we''ve been using internally at my organization. I''m hoping we can discuss and reconcile and then I''ll try to do my part to upkeep the official glossary of terms in the Wiki. Here are the terms we use internally: * class - a Puppet native that defines a container of resources, such as File resources, Package resources, User resources, custom-defined resources (see also terminology:definitions), etc. A class can inherit from anothe...

Issue with asin()
Hello everyone, I am working for a few days already on a basic algorithm, very common in applied agronomy, that aims to determine the degree-days necessary for a given individual to reach a given growth stade. The algorithm (and context) is explained here: http://www.oardc.ohio-state.edu/gdd/glossary.htm , and so I implemented my function in R as follows: DD <- function(Tmin, Tmax, Tseuil, meanT, method = "DDsin") ### function that calculates the degree-days based on ### minimum and maximum recorded temperatures and the ### minimal threshold temperature (lower growth temperature)...

...le "disconnect supervision" for my lines. > > > > Apparently "remote hangup notification" or "disconnect > supervision" or > > "calling party control" is NOT the magic phrase for them. Although > > disconnect supervision is in the glossary on their website. This may be off topic for this post, but I'm having a similar issue with Sprint. I finally did get disconnect supervision turned on (for an extra $5/month), but don't have answer supervision. Even though the remote party answers and we can converse, Asterisk doesn't k...

CentOS website/blog localization support for IT (italian...) language
Hi all, still again here... I'm doing some working to start the Italian translation job (build a glossary and share some good rules to approach translation task) I've analyzed the wiki software (MoinMoin) and found it extremely useful and simple and I'm trying to get in touch with the it-translator-team of that platform. I've two questions : 1) Can you share the usage/mostly accessed page...

troll or truth ?
Hello, I was discussing on the mplayer/mencoder ML about transcodingfrom Divx to Theora. I got these kind of answers: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.mencoder.user/280 Of course I understoud only 50% of what he said, as well as I am not really used with codec and video glossary... But I generally understoud his opinion. What to think? I would like not to believe him, espacially when he assumes Theora is as "good" as MPEG-1... so... -- Get a fully managed dedicated server for ?150/month ($200/month) No time limit for taking care of your server. [RFC] Documentation: nouveau: Introduce some nouveau documentation
Other gpu drivers have some driver-specific documentation, so it would nice if nouveau did as well. This adds a bare-bones ReStructured Text document with sections for module parameter documentation, an overview of the driver architecture, a section for internal API documentation, and a glossary for nouveau-specific terms. To make the document a little less bare, I've included docblocks for module parameters in nouveau_drm.c, as well as a header (selected at random) so reviewers can have a better idea of how this looks. The module parameter documentation is based on the existing docum...

Is there any way I can deploy cPanel web hosting control panel with Microsoft Exchange 2016 groupware behind one static public IP?
Dear Richard Grainger, I am grateful for your reply and guidance. After reading the following article at nginx.com, I realize that I should use a reverse proxy instead of a load balancer. Article: WHAT IS A REVERSE PROXY VS. LOAD BALANCER? Link: https://www.nginx.com/resources/glossary/reverse-proxy-vs-load-balancer/ Presently, I am using pfSense community edition firewall. Can I install the Squid package and use it as a reverse proxy? Where can I find good installation and configuration guides on this topic? Based on what you have mentioned, it seems that reverse proxy can o...
