OpenSSL ASN.1 vulnerability: sshd not affected
....bin/ssh/ssh-rsa.c?rev=HEAD;content-type=text%2Fplain That's now eight exploitable bugs that this change has saved us from. It's a good lesson in how excising even a relatively small amount of complex attack surface can make a substantial difference to the security of an application. This gloating only applies to sshd though - private key loading still uses the affected OpenSSL code, so if you are somehow allowing untrusted users to supply private keys to ssh, ssh-keygen or ssh-add in a privileged context then you should apply the OpenSSL fixes forthwith. -d

Is there some characteristic of CentOS systems that we should have known about that could have caused this problem?? Does Yahoo web mail have an easy way to retract my gloating email?

PAM, PDC and Winbind
Hello all, I currently have the following setup working nicely: A Samba PDC, with LDAP-SAM, syncs passwords between LDAP and Samba (and /etc/shadow when appropriate) correctly - either when changing them through Samba (samba has PAM support enabled and working) or through normal Unix mechanisms (/usr/bin/passwd, using pam_smbpass, pam_ldap, etc.). Several other Linux machines, running Samba,

Fw: setting an exception source to a redirect rule?
I recently setup shorewall on my freshly rebuilt router box. I setup transparent proxying using transproxy/dansguardian/privoxy/squid. My current rules for the redirect are: REDIRECT loc 81 tcp www - !192.168.100.0/24 ACCEPT fw net tcp www How do I set this so that all the request are redirected except for requests FROM a certain machine (192.168.100.11)? Application Design Question
I am designing an application to run a fishing tournament I am hosting. Each fish entered will be given a point total based on the length of the fish and the species of fish. Each species has a point multiplier. For Example Trout have a multiplier of 10 so a 20 inch Trout would have a score of 200. My conundrum is in where and when do I calculate the points. The options I have come up

When someone helps you, at least let them know if the problem is resolved or not
I'll keep this brief because I don't want to come across like any more of an a$$ than I absolutely have to, especially since I know I've blown my stack before..... Gentlemen (and Ladies, if you're out there), If someone gives you advice on this list, and ESPECIALLY if they give you advice offlist, have the courtesy to (AT THE LEAST) to let them know when/if you get your question
