NetBIOS name resolution from Linux
...mba server (version 3.0.24) names "Lamp" on a Debian Etch
distribution. It provides a "guest" (guest ok = yes, guest only = yes,
security = SHARE) access to a "share" directory, which works fine.
Indeed, I can access \\lamp\share from a Windows machine (named
"Ginger") without issuing a password.
I can also ping the Linux machine from the Windows one using "ping
Lamp", and get the Windows machine IP from its NetBIOS name:
# nmblookup Ginger

NUT configuration with APC CS650 and ESXi host
Hello,
I have decided to upgrade my home server by turning it into an ESXi host
and have also added an APC CS650 UPS.
My plan was to have NUT version 2.6.4 running in a Debian 7.7.0 virtual
machine, NUT installed using apt.
I configured NUT to run as a netserver, installed the ESXi nut .vib,
configured the shutdowncmd in the VM to do nothing, so that the ESXi host
would close that virtual machine

read server certificate B: certificate verify failed error is driving people crazy

Checked that times agreed and that certificates appeared valid at the
given times.
The only thing which finally worked was completely wiping both the
master and the agent nodes, then reinstalling and starting them up
gingerly.
I think the problem with this error message is that it is somewhat
obtuse, and occurs in far too many cases.
It also appears the system with certificates is fragile. Some of the
items which may be messing up the certificate chain and ability to
straighten it out are:

HP laptops with CentOS 7?
...anything audio through firefox doesn't work
except that which uses flashplayer.? Audacity and vlc work just fine.
The body of the laptop is solid, made mostly out of carbon fiber... it
seemed like it's bullet-proof.? The pop-out DVD tray I got is really
flimsy, so must be handled quite gingerly.? I've read that it's been
upgraded by HP to more solid version in more recent incarnations of the
Envy.
I've never used the bluetooth, so I can't testify to how well that
works, but I've never seen/read any complaints about it, so I'd assume
it works.

How to parse info from an xml response
Hi all!
In my app I want to detect what country a visitor is viewing from by
their IP.
Although it''s by no means perfect, the simplest option I''ve found is
by using this site:
http://api.hostip.info/
by passing the ip address as a query, this site returns an xml file
with the country as one of the tags.
http://api.hostip.info/?ip=6.255.255.255 returns (amongst other
things)

Setting up a blank table with column names in the hard drive
Dear Friends.
Greetings!
This should be a very common operation and I believe there should be a nice
way in R to handle it. I couldn't find it in the manual or by searching on
line. I am wondering if I could ask for some help in this community.
I am trying to record the results of my program to a csv file in the hard
drive so as to save memory space and also to read the results in excel

HP laptops with CentOS 7?
Hello all,
I'm looking into getting HP laptops for our department running CentOS 7.
Last time I checked this was some five or so years ago, and when I look at
https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops, nothing much seems to have happened
since.
At that time, I had to give up CentOS on laptops, as both Wi-Fi and graphics
wasn't too well supported with CentOS 5 and 6.
Is the situation better

Add Bitwidth Attribute in Clang without Modification in Source Code of Clang
I've actually got an implementation of this as an arbitrary precision integer extension that I've written up an RFC for (but not submitted). Below is my copy/pasted RFC (again, not reviewed, but I DO have an implementation of it that I need to prepare for review). I suspect my implementation will do what you need out of it. Its actually more significant than just adding a normal
