dom0 kernel v2.6.32.41 network problem
Hi,
I am running two hosts with xen-4.0.1 and dom0 kernel 2.6.32.41. The two hosts are connected to a Gigbit switch. Then I use iperf to measure the bandwidth and got the results of 200Mbit/second, which is only 1/5 of the available bandwidth.
Then I boot these two hosts using a vanilla kernel of 2.6.32.34. The iperf reports 937Mbis/s, which is very close to the available link bandwidth.
So why the pvops...

OT: Gigabit Rated Eth Cables - Cat 6 v. Gigatrue
Hi,
In populating our racks with several gigbit switches
over the next few days, i'm wondering this:
Is it over-engineering to seek out 550mhz rated cables
over the typical Cat 6 250mhz rated cables?
I've been advised (if you can a salesperson's words
advice, heh.) that 250mhz is enough to handle traffic
up to 10GB's.
Should I...

logon scripts no longer run with p-node netbios type 2
...he lease time is only three hours so everyone was affected reasonably
early).
This morning, however, the logon scripts would not run until I changed
the node-type back to h-node.
I have found some information regarding timing issues with VPN's but
this is plain old local logins (server has gigbit nics, going through a
gigbit switch, clients have 100baseT).
There was one change but I can't really test that until tonight: Samba
was rebuilt with the hide-special-files patch -
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2514 , which doesn't seem
like it should cause a problem.
Any...

Samba and FoxPro
Is Samba (1.19) incompatible with FoxPro? We have tried to network a
database package (FoxPro is the underlying DBMS) by putting it in a Samba
share. The database starts up and you can browse the tables, but it looks
as though FoxPro's record locking system causes the entire share to be
locked, so that further access to the shared drive (both in FoxPro and in
the Windows98 Explorer) is

performance?
I've looked on the 'net and found some references to poor performance but I
haven't seen a solution.
My environment:
Linux: SuSE 9.2 Pro AMD64
Windows: Windows XP Pro (32-bit) on an Athlon64
Networking: everything connected with GoC.
>From the Linux box, I want to basically back up some stuff from the Windows
box. To do so, I use the following:
smbclient //winbox/share

Hi all,

Proxy Arp
...one night I used crossover
cable between eth2 and Dmz and had same
problem (slow or no connections from outside networks on the net) I could
get successfull high speed connections to the Dmz server from
the internal lan to the Dmz server.
The second night I thought since the Dmz server has a gigbit nic and
shorewall eth2 did not that this may be the trouble. So I put a Cisco
10/100 swich between shorewall eth2 and Dmz servers single nic 10/1000. And
I came up with same trouble.
Since the server has to be up 24/7 I have it back out on the firing line
(net).
Can the list provide me with...

Tape drive recommendations
Hello all.
I have 15 or so CentOS servers (now v4.4, I will upgrade them all to
5 when it comes out) and a few windows machines. I am looking to
implement a network backup solution using Amanda.
I will be backing up 200 gig or so to start, but that will grow.
Does anyone have any recommendations on tape drives that will work
"out of the box" with CentOS?
Thanks,
Joe
