Q: Timing of render :update in an action ?
Hey folks, am hoping someone can set me straight with a solution to an issue that has come up involving the timing of rendered page elements in relation to the completion of an action''s execution. I have an ror search app which searches through two tables consisting of 7,000 page urls and a table w/ 87,000 related keyphrases within those pages. Search results can take anywhere from 2

Universal Binary Installer for Mac (pre-release)
...as flac 1.1.4, but you can turn either package installer off in the advanced options by clicking on Customize. Give me a shout if this doesn't work for you. Please give details on platform (hardware and operation system) if there are problems. It has been tested under 10.4.9 on multi-gigahertz G4, G5, and Core Duo processors. This should eventually get moved to another site and get linked on the main flac pages after a few folks have checked it out. Developers are probably the best testers in this case, since if there is a problem you can always "make install" over top...

more recent perl version?
...on far less power, but you?d have to pile up a bunch of I/O interfacing in front of them to make it as electrically capable and robust as a PDP-8/e, and you?d have to re-develop all the software, too. The modern tendency would not be to use one of those 40-cent micros, it would instead be to put a gigahertz class Linux PC in its place, with all the concomitant risks. Try getting a modern Internet worm into a PDP-8! Good luck not blowing the 4k word field boundary. >> If this sort of stance seems risible to you, you probably shouldn?t be using CentOS. This is what distinguishes a ?stable? typ...

Rank-based p-value on large dataset
I have a fairly simple problem--I have about 80,000 values (call them y) that I am using as an empirical distribution and I want to find the p-value (never mind the multiple testing issues here, for the time being) of 130,000 points (call them x) from the empirical distribution. I typically do that (for one-sided test) something like loop over i in x p.val[i] = sum(y>x[i])/length(y) and

Multi-Threading Compilers
This is a recent desktop. Xubuntu 19.10 Compiling for 10.0.0 clang and llvm. See below. For this test, running 14 processors in a gui VM. The cores are hyperthreaded, processors are twice the cores, but all the cores before the run are showing negligible activity. compile_commands.json has 3022 entries. The ninja compile run lasted 7 minutes and 43 seconds with 99% all processor usage

serious networking (em) performance (ggate and NFS) problem
Dear best guys, I really love 5.3 in many ways but here're some unbelievable transfer rates, after I went out and bought a pair of Intel GigaBit Ethernet Cards to solve my performance problem (*laugh*): (In short, see *** below) Tests were done with two Intel GigaBit Ethernet cards (82547EI, 32bit PCI Desktop adapter MT) connected directly without a switch/hub and "device

Performance (cough cough) Poor: Instant Rails
Hi, In short, RoR is brand spanking new to me, I set up Instant Rails (if you can call copying files "setup") and made my own simple app via scaffold. One table, 11 cols, 100 rows. All is well, except when I view the data, it takes 5-10 seconds to show the page, 5-10 more seconds to get the edit page and so on. Going back to the previous page is no faster (via previous link).

ATI VGA Passthrough / Xen 4.2 / Linux 3.8.6
Hi, I''m trying to get VGA passthrough to work to an XP x64 guest, and I''m seeing "interesting" things happening. I''m using the kernel and userspace tools from here: http://xen.crc.id.au/support/guides/install/# on Scientific Linux 6. I gave up on trying to get an Nvidia card to work in the guest having read about the extra patches required to get a
