Browsing and Mapped Drives over a VPN
...to open up
on the VPN boxes. Are they blocking ports 137 and 139 or is it something
else.

The syntax is a bit different; just ip host
e.g. 192.168.1.1 samba1
no #PRE, etc.
Look at the docs that come with samba,
like brwosing.txt, browsing-config.txt, etc.
They may help you out as well.

...by itself . I already had the machine accounts set up before hand
(as I believe you did to).

smbmount question
Hi,
I'm running Linux 2.2.2 w/ Samba 2.0.2, using the smbmount that comes with
Samba 2.0.2. I noticed that when I mount shares, smbmount sticks around,
almost like a daemon:
[root@jason /root]# smbmount //XXXX.gatech.edu/XXXX$ "XXXXXX" -U jkau
-c "mount /mnt/cnd" < /dev/null > /tmp/smbmount.out
[root@jason /root]# ps ax | grep smbmount
10678 ? S 0:00

How Samba let us down
Before you read this, I want to state (for reasons
listed below) that I don't expect an answer (advice is
welcomed, but please read this email carefully before

BACKGROUND
I've been using NT for 4 years, Netware and Linux for
3 years, and Samba for almost 2. I work

Maybe the most practical thing would be if only local,
not domain users can log on, but other solutions would be
acceptable.

3.0.0rc2 log error message - domain_user_groups related
Hi all:
I've looked in the archives and seen several refernces to this error message
but no solution put forth. I'm running samba 3.0.0 rc2 on RedHat 9.
The following shows up for each of my users in the syslog:
