Hi
how can I find which user using (openning) a file in windows machine from unix via samba
for example if I have the following file which is a outlook file and it open by a user in my network
prompt> ls -l outlook.pst
-rw-rw---- 1 aaa mannet 1130496 Mar 21 2002
when I use fuser
prompt> fuser -fu outlook.pst
I get the following process
outlook.pst: 760094o(root)

Error Saving Certain Files in Profile from Win XP PRO

it sometimes chokes on a different file, but never completes properly.
here are some of the relevant settings from smb.conf:

Method for joining machines to PDC without using root
...e of the information i found
by googling, but i wanted to verify the answer here.
my only other option would be to issue a:
smbpasswd root
make a temporary password, talk someone into joining
a domain on the phone, immediately change the password
back so it is secure.

Kernel package
Hi everyone,
My question is off the topic of the group, but I don't know anywhere
else to ask.
I see there are three kernel packages that I can't distinguish for RH
7.2
kernel-2.4.7-10.i386.rpm
kernel-2.4.7-10.src.rpm
kernel-source-2.4.7-10.rpm
The last one, I'm pretty sure it contains the source code for the
kernel.
Which of the first two is the compiled kernel code? And what is

Hello all, I'm trying to use CUPSADDSMB to add some printer shares.
Using the verbose output, everything looks good except the following
line.

I was playing with this on my test machine, (redhat 5.2, samba 2.0.3)
worked great, and I was really impressed.
So I decided to install this on my office machine. (redhat 4.2, samba
2.0.3) and the only significant difference is that on the
office machine, I use encrypted passwords.
I cannot get swat to authenticate on the second machine. That is, no
matter what account, password combination
