Wine and Legacy 6.0 Genealogy Program
Has anyone had any positive experience in installing the Legacy 6.0 genealogy program? The only instances I have found appear to be quite negative - to which I can attest; however, I would like to run Legacy 6.0 thru Wine in my Ubuntu OS if at all possible as opposed to using GRAMPS (a great program, but uploading a GEDCOM from Legacy 6.0 from Windoze Legacy has not been without major issues).

Errors
I'm a brand new wine user, trying to install a genealogy program that the database says works without problems. I get a load of error messages when I run the install, and the install never completely runs. I want help, but I don't know where to start. What information should I be providing to the good folks of this list in hopes of getting a solution? Thanks Rick Seiden

Re: Wine and Legacy 6.0 Genealogy Program
In case anyone is still interested, I'd previously reported success running Legacy 5 on openSuse 10.3, with a few very minor problems outstanding. When I came to try on Kubuntu Hardy it would install but I couldn't add to the database. This was after adding ole32 and oleauto and vb6runtime. When I tried to install dcom98, it objected, saying it wasn't interested in NT! Anyway, I

TMG -- MS Visual Foxpro errors
I'd like very much to be able to run "The Master Genealogist" under Wine. TMG is a MS Visual Foxpro application for genealogy database work. On my Kubuntu 6.10 system I have successfully downloaded and installed Wine 0.9.30, and then installed TMG ver. 6 including updates to 6.12, the current version. During TMG installation, there was a problem with a lack of

Re: Wine and Legacy 6.0 Genealogy Program
I installed the most current version of Wine and then installed Legacy 7.0 onto my Ubuntu 8.04. the installation seemed to 'take'. Unfortunately when I activate Legacy, all I get is a view 1/4 of the screen - not a full screen, just the upper left had corner which shows a partial Legacy screen. I did not get any 'runtime' errors - just the partial screen and the program will not

Apache Authorization Access Control - location of htpasswd in Centos 5.1?
Hi, I?m trying to set up a private family web site for genealogy, and want to set up Apache Authorization access control for this site, and once the user has logged in has access to the entire site. I?ve been reading the info at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/howto/auth.html to learn how to do this. I?m just planning on passing out the same username and password to all family members and

Apache Authorization Access Control - location of, htpasswd in Centos 5.1
I don't think it's the path of htpasswd that's the problem but here it is anyway: /usr/bin/htpasswd. The problem is more likely that the directory you're trying to create the password file in with the command "htpasswd -c /passwd/passwords famsite" doesn't exist. Personal Ancestral and Wine
Hello, I am trying to get Personal Ancestral File (which is free Genealogy software from The Church of Latter Day Saints) to run with wine. I have tried configuring wine in different ways following different suggestions in the HOWTOs and Wine user guides with varying results. I have also tried installing the software using Wine rather than just running the windows-installed program.

how to add a child to a child in XML
Hi, XML doesn't use the `$` to access child nodes. Instead use either `[name]` to get a list of children of that name or `[[name]]` to get the just the first child of that name encountered in the genealogy. Thus for your example... > root$child1 NULL > root[['child1']] <child1 name1="A" name2="B" name3="C"/> On the other hand, you might

how to add a child to a child in XML
Big thanks. newXMLNode works great. Wonder why it is not included in the documentation. There is newXMLDoc and newXMLNamespace, but no mention of newXMLNode. how to add a child to a child in XML
Hi, It's a reasonable question. The answer is that it actually is included, but there are many instances across packages where multiple functions are documented on a single help page. The following brings up such a page... (for XML_3.98-1.9) > library(XML) > ?newXMLNode You can see the same on line... https://www.rdocumentation.org/packages/XML/versions/3.98-1.9/topics/newXMLDoc

how to add a child to a child in XML
Just to clarify and hopefully catch the attention of the maintainer: The newXMLNode function is not mentioned in: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/XML/XML.pdf which supposedly describes all functions in the package. Requesting Maintainer for Legacy Family Tree 7
Hello Not sure how I'm meant to go about requesting a Maintainer, but I'll try this method. I am trying to get my grandparents to switch from Windows XP to Linux (Ubuntu). First step, would of course be including all programs they currently have on there computer. So I need Legacy Family Tree 7. Any chance of a maintainer? Thanks in advance, Panarchy
