After uninstalling VMware, smbd is running! It seems that installing VMware has side-effects on Samba. I immediately booted up a second machine and got the "Access Denied" error. I have tried two more computers since and keep getting the same thing but the first machine still

ppp interfaces for both loc and net
Hi, I''m in a process of setting up a firewall system, which is going to be also an ipsec/l2tp and pptp vpn server for some mobile clients. The problem is, that the system has two ISPs a cable one (no problems here) and a DSL provider. Because of the DSL provider the system is going to have one pppN interface for DSL (net zone) and many pppX interfaces for l2tp/pptp (loc zone)

XP caching password
Dear All, at first great job to all developers/programmers. I am new to samba and I finally worked out how to set up a simple samba server, but one issue I still have a problem with. I know that it is maybe not a samba issue, but I think here is the only place where I can find help for it. So my problem is that XP caching the user/password when I once connected to a samba server. The machines are Win2K sp3 and they are logging into a ADC which is Red Hat 9 (Shrike) and Samba Version 2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix. I have been able to setup the ADC and all users have "User" level access

Do I have any other option ? Here is an extract of the

Moving Samba from one computer to another one
Hi all. I need to move the samba server from one computer (samba 2.2.3a, RedHat 7.2) to another one (samba 2.2.7). This server acts as a PDC. I configure the new computer to have the same workgroup but not the same netbios name. I also copied my profile from the old server to the new one. I switch off the old server and switch on the new one. When I try to log in on from my Win2k machine I got
