How to handle NA-values in raster-based Geary´s C test?
Hi, I have a question on testing spatial autocorrelation on raster data including NA-values. In particular, I like to calculate Moran?s I and Geary?s C indices by using inverse distance weighting matrices. Calculating Moran?s I with moran.test works fine, because the function contains the option "na.action=na.pass". Unfortunately, the function geary.test does not contain this

Help on computing Geary's C statistic to test for Spatial Autocorrelation
Dear Users: I have been trying to use the geary.test() function in *R*, but am having slight difficulty understanding how I am to apply it in my context. I have 2 matrices: 1) *n x p* matrix of *n* observations with *p* measurements each. It may be noted that this matrix has a spatial dimension to it, as the *n*observations are at different geographical locations on a map. 2) *n x n* spatial

spatial correlation test
hello, I want to do a test for spatial correlation. I tried it with geary.test() but I don't understand the required input. x= a numeric vector the same length as the neighbours list in listw (my sampled data, I assume) listw= a listw object created for example by nb2listw (well when I check nb2listw() I get to "neighbours - an object of class nb" - but I couldn't figure

Mass Mailing
Has anyone found a good method of mass mailing a bunch of people (100k) using RoR yet? I have always used a scheduled task to run a ColdFusion page every x minutes to send out blocks of about 7500 (sending the full 100k crashed the page) and this worked pretty well and now we are migrating all out sites to ruby, I seed to do something similar. Thanks in advance, James

estadistica espacial

New user...tips for spdep?
Hello List, I'm a very new user to the R system. I'm only beginning to learn the basics, but so far I've been able to do little more than try a few examples, and of course begin reading the documentation. My primary motivation for exploring R is the availability of tools like the 'spdep' package for calculating spatial statistics such as Geary's C and Moran's

mail tools preferences?
We don't have enough arguments here.... <g> I see that thunderbird's deprecated for RHEL 7, and they recommend evolution. I've certainly had some annoyances in the last couple-three years with t-bird. So, what are people's preferred mail tools, other than t-bird (or maybe mutt or pine.... <g>)? mark

Streaming Music On Hold - Reality Check
Thanks to this thread, we got it working too... but have a question... Once this is setup... does it stream forever, or does the stream only start when someone goes on hold/into a queue/etc? If it streams forever, at 24k... it looks like over 7GB/month in bandwidth... so we're not going to want to do that if a) it streams constantly and b) my math is correct. Thanks, Doug >

Balsa problem
Wondering if anyone here has built Balsa for Centos-7. I've used it on Centos 5 and 6 for years, though I had to compile it myself. It compiles cleanly on c7, but when run I keep getting error messages that say "Failure to sync mailbox xxxx" that seem to happen when I try to view a mailbox that has new/unread mail, or perhaps it happens when a mailbox receives new mail whilei Balsa

New package: DCluster
Dear R users, I am glad to announce the release of a new package for R: DCluster. It implements a number of methods for the detection of clusters of disease. It includes methods to test Poisson extra-variation (Chi-square test and Potthoff-Whittinghill's test), Spatial Autocorrelation (Moran's I and Geary's c), general clustering (Whittermore's statistic and Tango's

analysing HTS assay plates for spatial effects
Hi, I'm have some data on a grid (specifically high throughput assay plates) and am interested in evaluating measures of spatial autocorrelation to flag plates for corrections. I have been using moran.test and geary.test from the spdep package. My approach is as follows: ## plate is a matrix of data coords <- expand.grid(1:32, 1:48) x <- as.numeric(plate) moran.test(x,

Anscombe-Glynn, Bonett-Seier, D'Agostino
Dear useRs, I was searching CRAN for implementation of kurtosis and skewness tests, and found that there is some kind of lack on it. So, I have written three functions: 1. Anscombe-Glynn test for kurtosis 2. Bonett-Seier test based on Geary's kurtosis (which is not widely known, but I was inspired by original paper describing it, found coincidentally in Elsevier database) 3.

Pluralized Controller Names?
If I do: script/generate controller Photo I get a controller named photo_controller. OTOH, if I do: script/generate scaffold Photo I get a controller named photos_controller. (Note that the controller name is pluralized). I realize that I''m specifying the controller name explicitly in the first case, but it seems odd to me that the scaffold command generates a pluralized

troubles with R CMD check and examples under Ubuntu gutsy
Dear listers, I was used to package pgirmess under Windows with everything OK, but, for the first time, I had a trial this afternoon on Ubuntu 7.10 gutsy (I have a double boot computer and work more and more under unix) and R 2.7.0. Everything went OK except this: sudo R CMD check pgirmess ..... * checking examples ... ERROR Running examples in 'pgirmess-Ex.R' failed. The error most
