My best guess at how to make this route
map.connect '':user'', :controller => ''user'', :action => ''profile''
makes my

stop working ?
I''m needing urls like http://localhost:3000/username but without

Strange problem with "and" - "&&"
Hello
I have a strange problem with this code:
<%unless (@students.empty? and params[:commit].nil?) %>
<%="test"%>
<%= render :partial => ''results'' %>
<% end %>
Even though in some cases @students.empty? returns false and params
[:commit].nil? returns true (or the opposite), it displays the test
and the render area.

Great discrepancy between Google Analytics and own counter
Got Google Analytics running on one of my websites. Google defines a

Rails API is not well defined
Although somewhat new, I continue to struggle with passing the right
parameters to the Rails methods despite making direct reference to the
documentation. For example, I want to create a form:
form_tag :action => ''deliver'', :id => @event.id, :class => ''entry''
The class doesn''t show up. I''ve tried various combinations of hash

MySQL vs SQLite
I have an application where speed is probably the #1 priority here. I am
using MySQL 5.0.22. Would SQL be considerably faster than MySQL?
I know this has been discussed before, but the search on the forums is
not working.
Thanks for your help.

Which is better for production: MySQL5 or PostGres8.1?
I''m coming from an Oracle and SQL Server background. I''d like to use
OpenSource for my next RoR project. MySQL5.x and Postgres8.1 seem to be the
most popular. I''d like some comments on which would be the better choice for
a production environment and why. Here are my initial concerns in order of
priority:
1. Works well with RoR. ( migrations, etc)
2. Stable enough

Time to split the list?
I hope no one gets offended by my asking, but I wonder what others think about the possibility of splitting the list into two or three focal areas. Personally, I think I''d like to see three seperate lists: 1) newbie development (e.g., help working through tutorials, etc.) 2) more advanced development topics, 3) environment setup / admin.. What do you think?
Best regards,

New to RonR...
Hello,
I''ll try to keep this short BUT, I''ve got little/no experience with
programming. In fact, my only background is using Cold Fusion (since
1996 and VERY little of that for the past 5 years as I''ve been playing
as a Manager-type at my jobs so I haven''t had to do any hands-on stuff
for a while).
My question: Would Ruby on Rails be a good platform to get

FireBug, and finishes off with some reference material.
The book is 56 pages and is available in PDF format. I''m really happy

Anything but Aptana
Not trying to get into a "What''s a good IDE" here, BUT....On
Windows....RadRails never cut it. Under Aptana, it''s a terrible joke,
and I''m sick of losing so much time waiting not only for this thing to
initialize, but the hanging and crashing I go through is killing me.
Please, someone....point me to a decent, lightweight IDE. All i want
is syntax coloring.
