LAN switches with PoE? PoE phones?
Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations on ethernet switches for a new install. Ideally would want switches with at least 24 ports, ideally with a GE uplink, and that support PoE (power over ethernet) on every port. I've seen lots of switches, and lots of "power hubs", but the combination, which makes a lot of sense, seems rare. What is out there? Do the switches need to be

warward smbd processes
...anch with which all the users encountering this problem exist. The network now consists of NetGear Layer 2 Managed switches, (1- 12 PORT SFP switch in the server room operating at 1000Mbit full duplex with 2 independant fiber links to (2) 24 Port 10/100 switches with 1000mbit fiber uplinks via GBICs). Figuring that perhaps the issue was indeed out network disconnecting users, and thus leaving a stale smbd processes locking the file they were using and escalating to 99% cpu in some way-ward loop of code somewhere... Now, things are running a lot faster, but the problem seems to be getting...

Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch recommendations
Hi listers, I am looking for people who have used Power over Ethernet switches, primarily in conjunction with Polycom IP 501's. I've been looking at the Linksys SRW224P, since I've had good luck with the SRW224 in our office. However, Nortel, Cisco, Adtran, etc. all have an offering, all of which vary in price. I would appreciate any input people have to offer. Thanks, James

Inexpensive Layer 3 Switch?
Any recommendations on an economical layer 3 switch? Preferably something that you have hands on experience with connecting to IP phones with attached PCs? Specifically I need the ability to set the VLAN in the phone to tag voice packets and to set a native VLAN on a per port basis on the switch to put the untagged packets from the attached PC into a separate VLAN. POE is not a requirement

PoE switch recommendations?
Hey, all. We're rolling out VoIP, and I'm wondering about PoE recommendations, as we're going to have to replace our current network equipment. My first inclination would be to just plunk down the cash and do a Cisco system, but I'm relatively certain that would get shot down by finance. Any recommendations for a couple-hundred-port solution with VLANs, PoE, and QoS? Don't

Yager on ZFS
Not sure if it''s been posted yet, my email is currently down... http://weblog.infoworld.com/yager/archives/2007/10/suns_zfs_is_clo.html Interesting piece. This is the second post from Yager that shows solaris in a pretty good light. I particularly like his closing comment: "If you haven''t checked out ZFS yet, do, because it will eventually become ubiquitously implemented
