I'm running R 2.13 on Ubuntu 10.10

OT: US city proximity search
Does anyone know where I might be able to download/purchase a database of US
cities and their longitude/latitude coordinates? I''d like to provide a
search option on a website that allows users to search by city but include
cities in the surrounding area.
Thanks,
Carl Youngblood

USB and serial
Hello, everyone -
I have an old Windows app - a ship navigation program - that needs to
see GPS input on a serial port (it was written in the pre-USB days.) My
laptop, however, has no serial ports - but this same program, when run
on a friend's Windows box, can read the GPS info from the USB-connected
GPS via the "USB-Serial Driver". This is one of the frustrating bits of

Diamond graphs
I apologise for starting a new thread, but we had a mail problem and I
don't have the original message to refer to.
Someone mentioned the new "Diamond Graphs" invented at Johns Hopkins.
I haven't see the August 2003 issue of The American Statistician yet,
but I _have_ read the press release.
The press release is a bit of a stunner. I quote:

X86_64 and 4GB RAM
Hello,
I have an odd problem on a dual processor, dual core Opteron system.
Obviosously it is x86_64 so should have no problem large amounts of
RAM. The system has 4 GB installed (2GB on each processor).
If I boot the system with a fresh install of Debian Etch it sees all the memory
fine. dmesg reports:
Memory: 4107008k/5242880k available (1929k kernel code, 86836k
reserved, 864k data, 176k

Debian 3.0 and wine
Hello all!
So I just realised that I need wine. I'm sitting on a Debian 3.0 box (which I'm in no way am competent enough to upgrade until a new release from Debian) and want to use wine.
Is there any pre-compiled binaries out there or do I have to try to compile it myself, and if I do, do you think that you will be able to help me when I get stuck?
Regards, Tomas

PCI modems
Hi all,
I'm currently searching for a PCI modem that will be used to receive faxes. I've tried out a few modems but they all use conexant chipsets, which need out-of-tree kernel drivers and currently doesn't work here (kernel oops when the installation script modprobes the driver).
Does anyone know of a PCI modem that works out of the box with in-tree kernel drivers?
Thanks,

Xen dom0 memory
I just discovered that my xen hypervisor only believes that it has 3199
MB of memory, when there are 4GB inside the computer. I don''t know how
long this has been this way, but I do not know how to try and force the
hypervisor to realize how much memory it has. Any ideas how I can
accomplish this?
I am running CentOS 5 (RHEL 5), kernel 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5xen, x86_64, xen
3.0.3.

Xen shows single processor on a dual core system
Hi all,
On dual core processor machine, I installed ubuntu-8.04 in which I
installed xen-3.2.
In ubuntu:
# cat /proc/cpuinfo --> Shows two processors information.
But in Xen on the same machine:
# cat /proc/cpuinfo --> Shows only one processor information.
Can anyone please explain what could be the reason behind this?
Thanks

Dovecot 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2.5 core dump when Quota Plugin (FS) is enabled
Hi,
we are actually deploying a new IMAP-Server, targeting dovecot 2.1.17.
Unfortunately, our tests with imaptest did not succeed, were ending in
core dumps. We did this test:
./imaptest host=example.com port=143 user=strack pass=secret disconnect_quit no_pipelining mbox=dovecot-crlf
That's what we get in dovecot's log:

Is there a way to prevent hwaddr/mac address spoofing between DomU''s?
So in a way ''binding'' a mac-address on boot time with a virtual
interface? (with something like ebtables/arptables/etc?)
