local address announcements
Hi everyone,
you can find the current version of my enhanced tinc using subversion:
svn://tardyon.mon-clan.de/tinc
I allowed anonymous read access, so feel free to download the sources.
Unfortunately, my enhancements are based on a rather old git-checkout from
Guus.
The version should run under windows and Debian/Ubuntu.
Best,
Daniel

help needed for freebsd
Hi,
I'm trying to run tinc 1.0.9 on freebsd 7.1-RELEASE-p4.
I tried:
Device=/dev/net/tun0
DeviceType=tun
I tried it without the device-line, i tried the other
devicetype-options, none of them work. With all of them I get the
following error:

weird routing issue
Hi,
I have the following tinc grid:
http://keetweej.vanheusden.com/stats/tinc-fvh-network-graph.png
Now a funny thing happens: bpsolxp routes traffic to clientbp via
'server', not directly. Both run 1.0.13. Bug?

Upgrading Dovecot on CentOS 4 from 0.99 to 1.x
...iscover any possible gotchas found while upgrading.
Two questions:
1. Which version is the recommended to upgrade? I'd like stability and as
little problems as possible over anything else, as we have a simple set up.
2. What is the preferred upgrade method? straight upgrade? (099 -> rpm -Fvh
dovecot-1.2 ? Or upgrading one release at a time? (0.99 > 1.0 > 1.1 ...)
Thank you in advance for any recommendation.
Regards,
Josep

Warning regarding new kernel RPMs
The instructions in RHSA-2000:037-01 (2.2.16 kernel update) tell you:
4. Solution:
For each RPM for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filename]
where filename is the name of the RPM.
These instructions are incomplete and may result in a system that
is unbootable.
After updating the RPM files, you should also:
(1) run mkinitrd to create a new initial ramdisk image

3.0.0, winbind issues
I just upgraded our system here to 3.0.0 from RC4 last night. As usual I
built an RPM from the source RPM after adding --with-acl-support to the
specfile. I found that unlike previous RCs, RPM would not upgrade to
3.0.0 using -Fvh. In the end I removed RC4 and then installed 3.0.0 in
the normal way (backing up and restoring /etc/samba and
/var/cache/samba).
However, the real issue is that we're still having problems with
winbind. It appears that sometimes for whatever reason winbind can't
contact the domain controll...
