Advice on approach to weighting survey
...g to a "svydesign" might be excessive for my purpose. My dataset has a huge number of unique "Run-Boarding" and "Run-Alighting" groups each with a small number of records to expand. Would it be easier to manually implement Iterative-Proportional-Fitting/Raking/Fratar/Furness on the data? Or are there benefits to converting the data to a svydesign that would make it valuable? This "traditional" weighting expands what we call unlinked (based on each boarding)trips. I'm thinking of also using IPF/Raking to estimate linked (based on each individual) trips....

smbfs: intermittent failures when accessing W2K server
I think I am experiencing a problem with samba 2.2.8 and kernel 2.4.20. I am using these versions on a number of computers in a render farm. These (Linux) computers use smbfs to access a Windows 2000 file server. Two things that I notice: 1) The rendering application (Maya) fails due to a failure to access files on the file server when first run after the Linux machine is started.

Cups, samba and temporary print files
This is probably more of a Cups issue, however, I have a question about the spool files from sharing Cups printers in Samba. The spool directory on my Samba server seems to be holding print job files from past print jobs. I'm wondering what is the proper way to eliminate these files? Any help is appreciated. Tim

Booting from Harddisk
Hi, I've made several attempts to boot syslinux from the harddisk. I have a win 98 startdiskette with syslinux and copybs. I strictly follow the procedure in the syslinux documentation. Yet, the result of the boot is not that linux is starting. Instead, the Microsoft windows screen flashes for a couple of seconds and is then replaced by a Dos prompt. Syslinux is V2.04. The PC is an IBM Aptiva
