Forensics related ZFS questions
1. Does variable FSB block sizing extend to files larger than record size, concerning the last FSB allocated? In other words, for files larger than 128KB, that utilize more than one full recordsize FSB, will the LAST FSB allocated be ''right-sized'' to fit the remaining data, or will ZFS allocate a fu...

NFS question (and Best Practices)
I saw in another post that a best practices doc will be coming, but I figured I would try to get this working. I''m trying to understand why zfs uses so many "zfs create" so I can use it better. What makes sense is that each zfs fs can have it''s own options (compression, nfs, atime, quota, etc). I really love this because it is so tuneable -- compression on these

Need 3.3v 64 PCI Booard with 800FSB (for ordinary Pentium4, not Xeon)
Just spended ~ hour googling - all boards are based on GC-XX or I750X Chipsets - all for Xeons. There also some boards for Pentium 3. Can someone point me to a board with 64Bit 3.3v PCI for ordinary P4 with 800Mhz FSB. Thanks

NUT 2.7.2.3 on CentOS 7.2 doesn't cut power to the host after shutdown
...the host system went power off before the UPS was instructed to cut power to the outlet. The result of this is that the outlet never lost power, so once the UPS was back on-line, the host would not automatically boot up. I know there's a shutdown script added by NUT which is supposed to do an FSB (or whatever it's called), but I think one of two things are happening: 1. The script is not working, so the FSB is never sent, or; 2. The host does its own power-off before the FSB command is sent to the UPS. Or perhaps it's something else? I'm not sure how to tell what's going...

Help with concurrent VoIP calls
...t able to make many concurrent VoIP calls on my system. I'm not aiming for a huge number, because I have purposely bought a low powered system, but I would think that I could get more. Here are the details: I have a small-form-factor Asterisk server with an Intel Atom 230 CPU (1.6 GHz, 533 MHz FSB) and 512 MB DDR2 533. It is running Ubuntu Server 9.04 with the default Debian package manager installation of Asterisk. (version 1.4) Here is what is going on: I'm making outgoing calls (with .call files) via SIP (using Vitelity's service, if anyone wants to know) with about 55.0 ms laten...

Scaling Asterisk: Dual-Core CPUs not yielding gains at high call volumes
List users, Using Asterisk in an inbound call center environment has led us to pushing the limits of vertical scaling. In order to treat each caller fairly and to utilize our agents as efficiently as possible, it is desirable to configure each client as a single queue. As far as I know, Asterisk's queues cannot be distributed across servers, so the size of the largest queue we service

New User: Kudos, small/old platform, RPM Illegal Instruction
Hello All! My 1st use of CentOS went well on my later eqpt. Thanks and congrats on a good product. Figured I might as well see if I could use it on some old stuff, still good but obsolete. Picked an AMD 5x86 (equivalent to a Pentium 75 MHz) and decided to see if I could make it my gateway/router. Had some difficulties, not unexpected. Old CD drive couldn't read the CDs. No boot from CD

Can this config sustain 30 users?
I have this server I need to put to work. The option I have is to make it work as a small office PBX with SIP users and a Digium E1 Card for PSTN service. 24 SIP users and one E1 card in an Intel 945board (533 Front side bus) with 1GB DDR 533mhz of ram, one Pentium Dual Core 2.66 ghz (FSB 533MHZ) and two 80GB SATA disks. Can the box sustain the load? I can add another 1gb of ram if necessary. Just PBX and voicemail, no fancy sutff like call recording... maybe a simple autoattendant like "thank you for calling, please press one for...." -- ------------------------------...
