icecast 1.3.10 is the server i'm running, but its ices 0.1 that gives
me a segfault under solaris. it works just fine on my linux box. ices
0.2 doesn't segfault, but it seems to overrun the server (if that
makes any sense), it plays a 3 minute file in seconds.
maybe i'll have to switch to mod_mp3 for my solaris boxes.

solaris success??
Has anyone been successful getting an icecast webcast going under
Solaris? I have tried several times using different versions of
icecast, ices, shout and solaris, but have never been able to get it
working without seg. faults, or glitching, or other problems.

intro + specification remarks + some questions
hi everyone,
since about 10 days I've been working on an implementation of ogg vorbis
*decoder* from scratch, and I've got a few constructive remarks about
the specs and some questions.

Quality degradation with 1.3.1 when using FEC
Hi,
I noticed that in some scenarios, Opus 1.2.1 produces better quality
than 1.3.1 does. In the use case here, I'm enabling FEC and "transcode"
signals from telephony networks (PCMU, 8kHz sampling) to VoIP (48kHz
here). In this case, Opus always produced some leakage/ringing above
4kHz but for 1.3.1, these artifacts became worse. The small script below
can be used to demonstrate

Icecast 2 recieving valid login from two sources
What happens when the Icecast 2 server already has a source connected &
broadcasting, and another source attempts to login also with valid login info?
Is the second source not accepted, or does the second source override the
already connected source?

Live stream equalizer
I was under the impression that "PCM equalizer" means it only equalizes the
PCM codec, i.e. WAV files. Have you noticed a significant quality
improvement in the EQ for compressed media: MP3, Vorbis, MPC?

DTCR Project
Disturbed Transmitter Community Radio Project
The Need:
Where I live there is only one open channel in our FM band. The one major
company that owns 13 of the local stations plus 8 more that bleed over from
the next biggest city, has lobbied the FCC so that the last FM license will
never be given out. So my friends run a little 10 watt, Max. allowed by FCC
for a non-commercial non-licensed

off: live365 relay
Answer to your question:
Live365 is strictly mp3
Much more than you wanted to know:
I started using Live365 about a zillion years ago and of course it was wonderful "back in the good ole daze". After you
signed up with them, you could park 365 meg of mp3s (up to 56k) and/or set up a relay (using either icecast or
shoutcast) all for free. (Dirty little secret was at first, although
