mounting & partitioning Seagate FreeAgent external HD
...portant
in-process file for our digital library from both Windows and Linux
servers, as well as a specific applications which are updated on a
separate test server.
This backup server ran out of space and I have no more internal slots
available to add another disk, so I bought a 750 GB Seagate FreeAgent
external USB hard drive. I've seen some various issues out there about
how Seagate FA HDs go into sleep mode when used in the manner I want to,
but all of the people posting about that seemed to be able to mount
theirs with no problem.
I can see the device in my /proc/bus/usb/devices file...

Seagate FreeAgent Pro (external storage, eSATA) linux compatibility
Hi list
I am running out of space on my notebook. So wanna buy additional and
external storage. I don't wanna do a DIY-work, so searching for
pre-built external hard disks.
I wish to buy Seagate FreeAgent Pro [0]. Does it work under CentOS 5?
Would you recommend me even better products?
I am searching for good performance, noise-less, smart standard
support and no useless features like NFS/CIFS server, etc.

callers in queue passed to agents who accept only one call at a time
...as QueueMemberStatus can be
triggered (although I don't know how). If the custom
script could receive this event in realtime then it
would run an agi command such as
QueueRemove(busyagent...). When the agent is free
again I suppose the same event is triggered and the
custom script can QueueAdd(freeagent...).
Could anyone please give me some pointers on this?
Thanks!

sleepy disk drives
Hi,
I'm having a grief with Seagate FreeAgent Pro drive connected to
CentOS 4 box via USB. The problem is that drive is factory configured
to take a nap (spin down) after some 15-20 minutes of inactivity, and
there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it. Since it's USB
connected, hdparm can't be used on it. Getting the drive out...

Force SATA1 on AOC-SAT2-MV8
I have a supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 and am having some issues getting drives to work. From what I can tell, my cables are to long to use with SATA2. I got some drives to work by jumpering them down to sata1, but other drives I can''t jumper without opening the case and voiding the drive warranty. Does anyone know if there is a system setting to drop it back to SATA1? I use zfs on a raid2 if

Newsgroup
This morning I had 37 messages from the r-help list in my mailbox.
I think its becoming excessive for an e-mail list.
I wonder if whoever looks after this list could either move or gateway
it to a usenet group?
That would also eliminate the need for special purpose archiving and
searching facilities since the site:
http://groups.google.com
would automatically provide that. That site also
