WoW: Low FPS
When I start wow and get logged into my character, my FPS will be high, like 75, then after 30 seconds or less maybe, it will drop for 20 FPS. I've tried all the fixes I read about on the WoW WineHQ page and thats how I got up to 75 fps for that short while (before, it was like 35 fps, which dropped to 15 fps) Some info on my setup: Ubuntu 9.04 (64...

Very low FPS in Wine/Ubuntu vs WindowsXP
...e 1.3.6. Graphics - GeForce 9500 GT with Linux driver 195.36.24 Tested World of Warcraft and compared framerates in XP vs Ubuntu/Wine. With all parameters the same (same Config.wtf file with OpenGL set), same in-game options, same character, same place (Dalaran) same movements. Result: XP - 35-40 fps Ubuntu10/Wine 12 -20 fps :( No other "tweaks" than OpenGL. The easier adjustments and "tweaks" suggested in older threads here and in other forums had no impact on fps. Is this as you should expect? Any suggestions on what to do to get fps at least a bit closer to XP?

Tip: Overlay frames per second on fullscreen 3d games
It's often handy to be able to see the current frames per second when testing a game under wine as it allows you to pinpoint where frame rate problems occur and how serious they are. It's easy to get the framerate from wine by setting WINEDEBUG=fps. However, it's not easy to track framerate changes as you play when the game runs fullscreen. Fraps[1] is a good solution to this problem under Windows but the FPS measuring functionality does not work under Wine (see bug #23765[2]). I found it's actually easy to view the current fps by us...

Terrible FPS on Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO)
Hey all I've been trying to get some good FPS on this game and I can't seem to get it work decently at all. According to the AppDB for LOTRO a lot of people seem to be able to push out 80-150fps on this game. I don't know how as I've scoured the internet and have tried every possible registry tweak you can imagine. I even tried...

Performance Issues with Games in Wine (EVE Online, TF2)
...My problem is that on the games I am running through wine, I am getting a reduced frames per second compared to what I had before the switch from Win 7 on the same hardware. When running one client of EVE Online, with the settings at defaults and at my native resolution (1440x900) I get around 20 fps. When running two clients, each in their own virtual desktop, I get only 10 fps. I don't have any actual numbers from before my switch, as I never thought to look, but I would estimate that I was getting at least 30 fps with two clients, and at least 40 with only one. The there is also a differ...

Problem with OpenGL
I'm using wine 20010326 to play Half Life. Works fine in software graphics mode, but not quite fast enough to be playable. In OpenGL mode, it runs at about 5 fps, and I get no textures. I have a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP. OpenGL works fine in native Linux (I get about 120 fps in the 'gears' program). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to get to the bottom of this? -- Steve Loft

world of warcraft drops to 1 FPS after runing for a while
Dear wine users, I have run wow under wine successfully for a while on my old computer, but recently I upgraded my system, and I am expreiencing a baffling problem : WoW runs great for a while, but after about 10 minutes, it drops down to 1 FPS. This corresponds with the cpu usage of WoW.exe jumping from about 60% to 100%. It feels to me like the game switched from using nvidia openGL to software GL. Is this possible? The mouse cursor response is very choppy (1FPS) in the wine/wow window. My system : 2 x xeon quad core at 3.0 Ghz...
