Trouble installing packages when history mechanism is modified by user profile
...9; package from my interactive R session, it failed with the following Erreur dans .External2(C_loadhistory, file) : aucun m?canisme d'historique des commandes disponible Calls: <Anonymous> Ex?cution arr?t?e second line is french for "no command history mechanism available", fouth is "execution stopped". interaction terms in formula of lm or glm
...a) > foo$coefficients (Intercept) V1 V3 29.47368421 -2.15789474 0.02631579 Why do the foo coefficients not include V3:V3 ? I thought that the variable "V3:V3" has the values of squares of V3 elements, that is, V3:V3 140*140 120*120 .... Am I wrong? If I specify a fouth varaible "V4" with square values of V3, and the formula is y ~ 1 + V1 + V3 + V4, it seems that the foo will give me different in and out-sample predictions. -Luke [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Registered program foibles
...of WINE. A different number will be reported. Only a few programs allow registering more than one number. (Additionally, changing hard disks or other hardware items will change this number and can render programs inoperative until re-registered which sometimes might not be possible :-( ). The fouth method will probably not work either since multiple process runs--such as accessing spell checkers or help files--may not work in WINE. Anybody found work-arounds for any of this?

voipjet anyone?
Is it me... or is it voipjet? This week I've been trying various providers, just can't seem to get voipjet to work. I signed up with voipjet but so far can't get it to work inbound or out bound. I always get 'all circuits busy'. May 12 22:27:05 VERBOSE[2442]: -- Executing [1;36;40mDial[0;37;40m("[1;35;40mSIP/101-ad89[0;37;40m",
