Dear R-folks, I guess some of you are running R on Alpha/Linux boxes. I should be very happy, if they could tell us `success stories' as to the Subject. Hi! Using wine 20000109 I notice a slightly annoying problem with wine when trying to launch Forte Agent: As long as any sound is played under linux, Forte Agent (or perhaps any other windows program?) doesn't start. I have to stop all sound and then wine launches Forte Agent. Why is that so, and is there a command line parameter to solve that issue? Thanks Peter(sen)

This is a reproducible bug that I reported earlier. The work-around is to remove the link foreign.tgz so that the build does not attempt to create the foreign library. However, there is actually nothing wrong with the foreign source so the problem must be somewhere in the configure process. After make install, then use the original source as follows and everything should work: R CMD INSTALL
