sepa).

forestalling kerberos for a non-kerberos user
Well... we've got this annoying message in the logs: a 5.10 nfs server
complains about an nfs4_CB timeout from the client, which is running FC19.
My twist is that motion - remember me fighting motion? - is the "user"
whose home directory needs to be mounted, to store pics & video. It, of
course, has no kerberos ticket.
Ideally, I'd like to find a way to tell nfs not to check

with a grid of points. I have read ways of annotating it with individual
points but not with grids in another matrix.
Any ideas?
Thank you very much.

## model1 <- nls(ho ~ (b*edad*exp(c)/(edad*exp(c)+a)), data=nigra,
start=list(a=0.005,b=0.08,c=-0.00006), trace=TRUE)##

Connections to https: URLs -- IE expert help needed
I've added to R-devel the ability to use download.file() and url() to
https: URLs, *only* if --internet2 is used on Windows.
This uses the Internet Explorer internals, and only works if the
certificate is accepted (so e.g. does not work for
https://svn.r-project.org).
Now I use IE (and Windows for that matter) only when really necessary, and
Firefox has simple ways to permanently accept

Multicolor main title in a plot or mtext
Dear R-users, the problem I'm facing today is to write a
multicolor main title in a plot.
I would like to have 3/4 colors to help people in the
audience to visually realize what is what in a 4x2 plot array
On top of each plot I would like to have two lines.
The 1st line will indicate what is plotted
The 2nd line will indicate a a reference
Graphically speaking I would like a result similar

substitution of the ASCII character "squared" AKA "^2" AKA (alt+0178) with a tractable one
Deae R helpers,
the problem I'm facing today is related to the manipulation of a string.
The string is coming from a a porosimeter, whose control is under a
complicate set-up of two computers
One (running on DOS) is controlling directly the hardware, while the
other (running on win XP) which process the data is connected to the
first one via serial. I get the data from this last computer.

Managing Data [Summary]
A while ago I asked about data management approaches in R. I was asked by
several people to post a summary of the responses and alas I am just getting
around to doing it. I received several comments, both on and off list.
Below is a compilation of these responses. Hope this is as helpful to
others as it was to me.
Best,
Brett

Suggest changing dirhash defaults for FreeBSD 9.2.
I have been experimenting with dirhash settings, and have scoured the internet
for other peoples' experience with it.
(I found the performance improvement in compiling has forestalled the need to
add an SSD drive. ;-)
I believe that increasing the following values by 10 would benefit most FreeBSD
users without disadvantage.
vfs.ufs.dirhash_maxmem: 2097152 to 20971520

Patterning for fills
I have coded a preliminary patterning for fills based on the Postscript
"paint" function that a couple of R-bies requested. As an attempt to
forestall giving them headaches when someone (maybe even me) gets around
to coding patterning for the other devices, I have used the most
significant byte of the internal color code to hold the pattern code.
This does not interfere with solid color

Saludos.

I've googled around in the mailing list archives and eventually find
some clues.
