Searching on the Ruby fora?
All,
Just wondering if anyone knew the story behind the disabling of the
search feature on the Ruby fora Web gateways?
I guess we can all use gmane for searching, and honestly this search
engine wasn''t the best, but it certainly was convenient.
Any idea whether there will be a search facility in the Web gateways
again?
Thanks,
Wes

Hello friends, I have a question for you, my server is in 4.4 (centos) and
it is a Pentium III of 500 MHZ, it's a compaq proliant, now I want to
change the dark disc of it to other, which is HP Pentium IV, is it possible
that the change of server can be recognized by the Linux or I would have
problems at the moment of it is started in the new server?
Thanks and regards,

Creating subsets of a matrix
Hello,
Say I have 2 columns, bmi and gender, the first being all the values and the
second being male or female. How would I subset this into males only and
females only? I have searched these fora and read endlessly about select[]
and split() functions but to no avail. Also the table is not ordered.
bmi gender -> bmi gender + bmi gender
1 24.78 male 1 24.78 male 3 23.18 female
2 26.42 male 2 26.42 male...

FAQ Topics
It appears that we need a Frequently Asked Questions document to go with
our introduction of the Wine Fora to the mailing lists.
I will start with the first topic:
1. Q. What is Wine and where do I get it?
A. Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Microsoft Windows (TM)
Application Programming Interface (API) for most Linuxes and UNIX
variants, including Mac OS X. Wine is usually included a...

How to get 1.0.1
I'm new in Linux (Ubuntu 8.04) and pre-new in Wine. Apprently 1.0.1 is the latest stable release, but I can't find a way to get it by following any of the links on the WineHQ pages. I always end up at a page that's warning me I'll be downloading a beta version, even though I've clicked on a link that promises 1.0.1
All help welcome, but please don't point me to a tar.gz -

A broader CentOS information sharing issue? [ Was What's an Enterprise class OS ]
...what you mention and the assumption that the user base is
growing.
I thought it might be useful to the project to think about this. If not,
just ignore this please.
In projects I've seen in the past, the addressing of things such as
_effective_ FAQs, proper indoctrination of new users (in ML, fora and
chat rooms) into the _basics_ of the project are usually delayed until
the swelling volume forces action to be taken just for sanity/survival
of the "hittest". :-) Although these things weren't ignored, they are
often considered, effectively, in isolation. Consideration or

Reporting for Duty.
...s, Akemi has suggested that I ask you to grant me editing powers for all three of them. So, here I am reporting for duty.
According to the HowToContibute, you will need to know my UserName. I assume this is my Community ID that I created back last October and shows up on my postings to the various fora? This is nothing more that a concatenation of my forename, middle initial and surname: AlanJBartlett.

I have posted it months ago here:
http://community.skype.com/t5/Linux/Skype-for-Redhat-Enterprise-6/td-p/1210686
Actually, I also posted to the c6 fora back then and suggested to
document it more precisely in the wiki.
That posting was immediately closed without further ado. Someone even
followed me to the skype fora, only to state that I'm just talking
bullshit and that http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype has all you need
to know.

Missing Text in Wine 1.1.12
Hello,
I am running a fully updated Intrepid Ibex 8.10 on my desktop. I installed Wine from the repositories using
Code:
sudo apt-get install wine
Wine 1.1.12 is downloaded & installed correctly but none of the menus or buttons have any text in them. Clicking on any button flashes the text on it. Everything else is replaced by _ .
Here are a couple of screenshots :

Help on predict.lm

relationship “linear1”.
At first, I thought it could be done by:
> predict.lm(linear1, brom$abs)
Error in eval(predvars, data, env) :
numeric 'envir' arg not of length one
But, R gives the above error message. Then, after some searching around on
different fora and R-communities (including this one), I learned that the
“newdata” in “predict.lm” actually needs to be coerced into a separate
dataframe. Thus:
> mabs <- data.frame(Abs = brom$abs)
> predict.lm(linear1, mabs)
Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : object 'conc' not found

I'm unable to get JGR or iplots to load using "library(JGR)" or

Mac look-and-feel issue, but I'm not sure where to go with it at this point.
I've searched the fora and web to no avail.
Any pointers are appreciated.

A request from the CentOS Project
The CentOS Project seems to be having a problem within some of our
community interactive areas that we need to address.
As most of you know, the project provides CentOS software free of charge
and we also provide community areas like a Wiki, Mailing Lists, IRC
Channels and Fora for our users to interact with one another and allow
the CentOS community to provide support for each other.
There are some companies out there that provide paid CentOS support, but
for the most part our users utilize community areas to get support for
CentOS.
That brings us to our problem ... so...
