Best way of merging mbox files
...d here
https://xaizek.github.io/2013-03-30/merge-mbox-mailboxes/. You will end
up with an 'unsorted' mbox file. Is this going to be a problem
esspecially when they are large >2GB's and new emails will be written to
it?
The email client nicely sorts the message from folder A "foldera 5 last"
as last, but of course the mbox is not like this.
Is there a better solution for merging files?
Having:

How to set file/folder permission flexibly in Samba
...controlled by NT domain controller on NT server will be migrated to Linux server with Samba domain. But the problem is:
How to restore the permission for file/folders.
Because in Nt domain, there are some files/folders with special permissions, for example:
UserA and UserB just read folderA
UserC and UserD can read/write folderA.
In Nt domian, it's easy to do so, we can set such permission by click "Security' button in folder A's Property. But with Samba, it's so difficulty. Because folderA will be migrated to a root directory in Linux server, such as /De...

Question on folder sync with "directory name translation"
...been using rsync for some years up
to now.
I'm trying to synchronize two directory trees, but I want a special
behavior that I didn't find on the net nor in the manual (or maybe there is
a combination of options to get what I want but I couldn't find it).
Tree A is like:
A

FolderA

And tree B (on a remote filesystem) is like:
B
*
*
*
FolderB
*
*
I have to synchronize everything in one rsync run, like
rysnc -arv A/ B/
but I want FolderA to be synchronized with FolderB.
They must contain the same files but have a different name! I want

Question on folder sync with "directory name translation"
I should describe the problem more in details, but I believe this is off
topic for this list.
The FolderA is named "Musica" (in Italian) because.. I like it that way..
and is in my home folder.
PC # /home/gionata/Musica
FolderB MUST be named "music", in my home folder on the NFS filesystem,
NAS # /volume1/homes/gionata/music

AW: AW: Samba ignores groups for ACL !
Hi,
First of all, thx for fast answering.
> I hope that the above commands are really right, because you
said folder_a but the name of the folder is "folderA".
Sorry, the commands are right :)

What do you mean... when i uses the command "./net groupmap list",
i get the following back
#Administrators (S-1-5-32-544) -> NTBV+mn_alle

Automatically add group
Dear All.
I have a file server. I installed the samba on it to store the document.
See below for the security :
- group :
+ g1 : user1, user2,user3
+ g2 : user4, user5,user6
+ g3 : user1,user5
- folder :
+ folder A : set permission chmod 775 and group chown root:g3
The problem is when the user1 modified a file in folder A then that file
add the group g1 automatically. So

Does Samba/Winbind not follow nested groups in AD?!?
Here's the situation: We have users who are members of groups and those
groups are sometimes members of a 2nd level of groups. If a folder has
permissions assigned to a 2nd level group, then the user can not access
the share. Doing a "getent group | grep user | grep 2nd_level_group"
also returns nothing. Samba seems to not be recognizing that a user is
a member of a group under

do 1.1b4 assertion failed: (mailbox_list_is_valid_existing_name
I think this is where I left off last weekend. Instead of this happening at the base
of one of my shared mail namespaces, it happens when I try to select a top level folder
inside the namespace, or try to directly select an entire path to a folder. This only
happens when ACL is enabled. Let me know if I need to provide more. Thanks.

I was trying to copy a directory from one location to another. Is there a command to do this (similar to the file.copy command)?
