Managing public folder ACL files
We have a customer with a large public folder hierarchy. They occasionally make requests to have the public folder ACLs changed; for example: "please give user X access to all public folders" (that's nearly 1700 folders). Worse: "please give user Y access to all sales folders" (there are 1450 sales folders). The proble...

mbox, hierarchical folders/folders and IMAP
Hello, I'm now dealing with funny problem. I try to use Dovecot (2.1.rc1, actually) and mbox format to store old mailing, to keep logic of "one folder = one file". If I'd choose Maildir, I'd be able to create hierarchical folders (like "OldMail -> Maillists -> Dovecot"), and in fact on disk such a folders would be stored as real folders with dots in their names. In PHP it is easy to create with "imap_createma...

Cannot delete folder
Hi there, I cannot delete IMAP folders in new mailboxes. When trying to delete a folder in Thunderbird I get the error message "renaming not supported across conflicting directory permissions". Looking up the error on the web led me to checking the mailbox directory's permissions. They're inconsistent in new mailb...

deleting folders containing subfolders with thunderbird (mbox format) bug
When using Thunderbird (dovecot-0.99.13-3.FC3) on Fedora connecting to dovecot-0.99.13-3.FC3 I am having problems deleting folders which have been created with the 'Allow your new folder to contain: Folders only' option picked. The folder appears to get deleted but upon restarting Thunderbird the folder still appears to be there but clicking on it I get the error: 'The current command did not succeed. The mai...

Namespace problem? duplicated folders...
I'm sure this is related to name-spaces, but for some reason [brain damage perhaps? :) ] I can't seem to figure out how to fix it. In TBird, for example, I have a folder tree that looks like this Inbox -| Folder-A Folder-B Folder-C Folder-A Folder-B Folder-C And Folder-A, Folder-B, Folder-C are the same folders, just shown twice. [In two different hierarchies.] I'm using mbox files to store mail. [If that matters.] Here's what I have in my conf...

shared folder name or public folder with mail address
Hello! we are about to move from cyrus to dovecot and have one open issue for that migration. With cyrus we have "shared/" folders with a name that is self defined like shared/project-xyz but the email address for direct delivery to that folder my be different (not project-xyz at domain.com). With dovecot we try to have it similar (at least how the user sees it in the client) like it is now. When configuring a namespace o...

What causes folders to be reported as noselect?
As the subject says.? This may be a bit open-ended - but it would really help troubleshooting some obscure folder issues. In my case, I happen to have both some "real" folders and also some "virtual" folders that respond to IMAP LIST commands with the "\NoSelect" flag - and I don't know why.? Via telnet, I can manually issue SELECT, SEARCH, and FETCH for such folders witho...

some problem with dovecot
hi, yesterday we switch to courir to dovecot the whole company. there is good and bad news. the good one that about 200 people use outlook and outlook works fine (after we make some registry hack to delete the INBOX form imap root folder, which was required for courier but not for dovecot). the bad news we try most of the thing before the switch except outself. since the whole it department use linux and mozilla. and almost nothing is working with mozilla: - first of all the folder list can't be subscribed i.e. only the top lev...

Behavior difference in mbox versus Maildir listing
...il) is having a hard time listing directories for a mail account with two namespaces, one of which using mbox and the other one using maildir to store mails. Let's call the namespaces "#mbox." and "#maildir." and have "." as separator. Assume I have the following folder hierarchy: $namespace $namespace folder $namespace folder folder1a $namespace folder folder1b $namespace folder folder1c The resulting IMAPv4 session is: mb1 LIST "" "#mbox.%" * LIST (\Noselect \HasChildren) "." "#mbox.folder" mb1 OK List com...

Dovecot Folder Creation Problem
Hi Robert, Many thanks for your reply. I realized that the title of my email was not explaining my exact problem. My problem is not the creation of the folders. I am happy with the folders created by RoundCube. I am confused why Outlook can't write to the Sent Items folder. Logically Outlook, TB or any other email client must have permission to write the sent mails to the chosen sent mail folder on an IMAP server without any problems. Am I wrong? T...

Dovecot 2.0.13 and removing IMAP folders in thunderbird
Hi, I use Dovecot-2.0.13 with mdbox and Thunderbird (IMAP). I have dozens of imap folders and sometimes I wish to delete several folders: First Problem: If I remove a folder under TB, it get moved to my Trash folder. After that I close TB, which also purges the trash. When I come back, the deleted folder and its content is still there. There is no way to remove it with TB. On the ser...

Mac OS & Folder Timestamps
So this issue might not strictly a Samba problem, but it happens to be where I found the issue and maybe there's a solution in the server or someone who's familiar with the problem. Basically I'm using a Pi as a small nas. I have a folder /media/ and a script that mounts usb drives there automatically. So I shared /media/ with smb.conf. Windows & Linux had no issue accessing the data, but Mac couldn't navigate into the folders that had drives mounted on them. For example '/mnt/usb drive' wouldn't work. I'd cl...

Moving Maildir folders
Hey!! It is now showing the former users' folders at the top level of the current user. Great! Perhaps dovecot just needed time to "index" the new messages? Anyway, Luigi's suggestion on moving and renaming the folders apparently worked. Thanks!!!! --Mark -----Original Message----- > Subject: Re: Moving Maildir folders > F...

Thunderbird does not find the right folders :-(
Moika, Overnight, I migrated my user-mails from uw-imap to dovecot-maildir. I used the uw2dovecot.pl script to convert all mails and changed exim, too. Receiving mails works fine allready, but nobody can access the usual subscribed folders with thunderbird. Via "subscriptions" I can find the converted folders in a folder called "_" (underline). People getting mad about me as the cannot find their stuff any more in the usual folders. What can I do that they have the converted stuff in the same folders as they...
