20 second delay using pre-roll <intro>
Hello
I have a problem when I use the intro to send a pre-roll, the main stream
generates a 20 second delay, when the main stream is played it has no delay.

First public release of Flumotion Streaming Media Server
Hey everyone,
we finally bit the bullet and threw out our firstborn for public
consumption. For those not yet in the know, Flumotion is a streaming
media server based on GStreamer and Twisted under development by
Fluendo.
This release gives users access to the basic features of the server and
demonstrates its distributed capabilities. We will follow up with a
release within a couple of weeks to address some of the remaining...

Live HTTP streaming of Theora files
What's the easiest way to broadcast a "live" event using Theora?
- Microsoft Media Services uses a closed protocol (MMS) and special
streaming servers, so I'm not excited to go that way, even though it
seems to be the most obvious choice. (Though I'm not sure if I could
convince it to use Theora anyway.)
- I could encode the entire file into an Ogg/Theora file and just

Any roadmap on WebM Support ?
...he HTML5 browser wher able to keep on playing the stream after few
hours, only standalone players could ( like VLC)
So before launching this new stream, we are wondering if Webm could be
a better option ( at least when FF4 will be spread) but we don't want
to use another stream server such as flumotion just for this stream
and would like to carry on using icecast.
Is there some evolution on Webm support, does it need a lot of changes
in Libshout for example ? or does the code structure of icecast makes
it easy to add new containers/codecs ?
thx for this great piece of Libre software !

Attempts at live streaming (long)
I would like to hear from anyone who has had some success in this area. I
have got it to work but the picture freezes and stays frozen when there is
a lot of motion. I will share how I got to that stage since I have tried
some different approaches to those I have seen documented so far.
I currently stream live video events for a non-profit using Helix Producer
but would like to move to something

Is Cortado dead?
...by integrating cortado
in an easy to use framework to allow the user to play the file either
in his own media player or the cortado applet. But the actual version
of Cortado has a really grave bug that makes playing some videos with
java 1.6 under GNU/Linux impossible. I created a bug report in the
flumotion bugtracking system but no one seems to care about it. The
last release seems to be older than a year now and the last commit
to the code tree was 9 months ago. Could it be that they just stopped
developing cortado? That would be really sad because I know no similar
solution for playing embed...

encoding to many clients
Hi!
I am new to video encoding and streaming so this question may sound silly.
However I want to create a simple application which would get video frames from
video device (video4linux) encode them using theora and then send to
clients.
The question is: do I have to encode the stream for each client
seperately? It would be ideally to have one encoded stream and send it
to as many clients as it

release of cortado 0.1.0
Hi everyone !
As a special Christmas present, Fluendo is releasing the source code to
the java-based "Cortado" media player. See http://www.flumotion.net/
for more details, or check our demo streams (with applet) at
http://mirror.fluendo.com/
This player has great support for Ogg/Vorbis/Theora, using the Jorbis code
and the Jheora port of Theora to Java written by Wim Taymans.
Keep in mind that our office stream might be a little boring sin...

ffmpeg/ffmpeg2theora &vhooks
Hi theora-list,
I'm involved in in a project to redistribute C-SPAN's floor footage
from the US house and senate that we're capturing and converting*.
This footage is in the public doman, however there's a C-SPAN overlay
which is a registered trademark - we're having to overlay a "public
domain" graphic on top of it. We're currently doing this with

Your ideas ...
I am looking for ideas on how to best webcast public meetings. The
general idea is to allow folks to easily send their live or recorded
meeting audio up to a server via their browser.
My goal is to present an alternative to more expensive video webcasting
for small local government and community groups that want to "double"
their audience from 10 people a the room with a net

Are you saying that the listener is further behind on the stream with the
pre-roll?
I believe that this happens because the pre-roll is sent as quickly as
possible by Icecast t...

Another web-based vorbis player
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
This one looks promising:
https://core.fluendo.com/flumotion/trac/browser/cortado/trunk/README
It is JS-controllable, so if I can force myself to sit down and do some web hacking, I might be able to create a myspace-like player that'll let people select different tracks to listen to.
It's not flash, but it seems pretty lightweight.
