"disk" option in hvm config file
Hi,
Does Xen HVM support the the "disk" option that can attach a FAT partion or
a floppy image like the qemu? In qemu, we can do it with the option "-hda
fat:/root/tmp/" and "-fda /root/floopy.img". Any reply is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bei Guan

some beginnerkernel questions
...some devfs_mk_dir errors systems comes up.
Now I installed XEN but system doe not boot as the boot device seems not to
be recocnized by the kernel. I found the message already dealt with in some
threads...
Root-NFS: No NFS server available, giving up.
VFS: Unable to mount root fs via NFS, trying floopy.
VFS: Insert root floopy and press ENTER
So I nw know that I have to recompile the XEN kernel according to my system.
Two questions:
I never kompiled a kernel before - so is there maybe a way to keep my Debian
confirguration that is working and just add this to the XEN stuff?
Regarding the devf...

Dom0 searching for NFS root
...g X, i haven''t trying to boot guest OS. my laptop
configuration is Toshiba Portege R150 with Debian Sarge on it.
And then I installed same version of Xen into our server with Debian
Sarge and Kernel 2.4. Booting dom0 is not success , xen always trying
look dor NFS root and then request for floopy , anybody experience
with this syndrome ?
In this server I use hde as the harddisk and boot partition is hde1
and root partition at hde10 , is this the problem for Xen ?
Thanks

ghost 8.x and newer
Hi all,
I love syslinux!! It works great.
Problem. GHost 8.x and higher... With ghost 7.5 and earlier I was able to
boot floppy images from my tftp server.
But as you all know Ghost 8.x and higher had a bloated ghost.exe that does
not fit on a single 1.44mb floopy image file.
Has any one had any luck in getting ghost 8.x and higher to work with
syslinux and memdisk? I have tried to create over size floppys, but I have
never had a success bootable image from these over sized images.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
thanks,
jb

is "map untrusted to domain" possible?
...<samba at lists.samba.org>:
> Why do you still have a dos client, even I (an inept programmer) could

some tool/utility only has dos version. if you want to input/output
something to dos, then samba is the best partner. you won't want
usb-disk or floopy under dos. BTW, dos has universal storage and
network drivers, although it will become broken by future uefi-only
computers.
I have test "DOMSAM\fred" and it can not work. so maybe it is the
bug of samba 4.7?

about pxe booting, no boot filename found
hello,
I have a problem about pxe booting.
I have two isolated machines, one(server) has got dhcp and tftp servers
working correctly ( I am pretty confident with this). The other machine
(client) using floopy to boot with pxe-request. The problem is, the client
cannot get the bootfile("/tftpboot/pxelinux.0"), it always report no boot
filename found. I also found the IP address, which server assign to client, is
also refused by client, since the "discover" process keeps running.

how to force ext2 root fs type at boot?
...vanilla (non-RH) 2.4.10 kernel (no ext3 support), the system wouldn't boot
since the new kernel had no ext3 support.
I had to do a 'tune2fs -O ^has_journal ' and edit fstab , in order to get it
to boot.
(is this enough to convert back to ext2 ?)
Unfortunately before making a new boot floopy at this stage, I must have
made an error in my grub.conf, and so now I can't boot from grub.
my old boot floopy fails to boot : it loads the ext3 and journaling modules
, then the kernel panics since it can't mount the root fs, mentioning that
the root fs has no journal.
I am/was using the...

Trying to build ISOLinux Minimal CD
...y hair, not having much luck trying to get ISOLinux
(syslinux) running on my IBM x345 Server...
I want to put my boot (syslinux) and root files (lib etc for modules) on
the CDROM and just boot off of it to use PartImage...
Not having much luck though..
For testing purposes I'm using the boot floopy I created using "The Linux
Bootdisk HOWTO" and it seems to boot fine and ask for the root disk.
Then I modify LILO to look at /dev/cdrom for the root and place a cdrom
with a root files system in the cdrom.
It panics saying VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:00

Floppy image larger than 2,88MB
I hope I've understand that all, somebody wants to create a floppy-image
larger than 2.88MB an use it with memdisk? I have modified a tool from Bart
Lagerweij (Big thanks!) and can create Floppy-Images with 5760kB and 8100kB,
and boot them with ISOLINUX and MEMDISK (or also with a modified
DISKEM1X.BIN), is this what you mean? These tools must run under windows, but
booting no problem.

Application doesn't run without a CD
Hello,
I have a situation here. I use a French dictionary "Le Petit Robert
2003" on a daily basis for my studies and it's probably the only
thing left that ties me to Microsoft Windows.
The problem when running it with Wine is that I am asked for a CD to be
inserted. This application just won't run without it. The thing is that
it shouldn't require a CD since I have made a

Removable media security in FreeBSD
I'm working with a FreeBSD user -- a teacher -- who's running KDE on a system
on which she neither has nor wants root privileges. She wants to be able to
mount and unmount floppies and ZIP cartridges from within KDE, using the
standard KwikDisk utility (which, by the way, generates mount and unmount
command that don't conform to FreeBSD syntax; however, it appears possible
to fix this

Making logos...
Hi!
I'm trying to create a custom logo for syslinux but keep bumping my head
on the conversion to LSS16. The sample syslogo.png works fine so I
decided to start with a known quantity by loading it into the Gimp.
I cleared the canvas, color filled a blue background (0x000033) placed
some yellow letters on the blue (0xffff00) and saved the file back out
with the default compression. The

pxelinux+memdisk experience & problem..
hi:
i try to make some images for pxelinux+memdisk.
the version i try is 2.0.6 and 2.0.7pre5
for 2.88M floppy image, first i make a 1.44M boot floopy,
then use "winimage" to load the disk and transfer it to
2.88M format, then save the image. it seems a easy way to make
a 2.88M boot image.
for harddisk image, i use vmware to build a virtual machine
with 20M harddisk, make it boot and put everything on it. then
boot this machine with...

I have a simple script that sets the time on a Windows client at
startup.
The one-line script:

Works perfectly well when I double-click it from Windows Explorer, so I
don't think the problem lies there.
The relevant lines in my smb.conf file:
