Browsing with duplicate names in multiple workgroups/subnets and multihome machines
You can see by the subject I've got an ugly problem. Even though I don't have a Samba server anywhere near the network in question, nobody understands browsing as well as the folks on the Samba team. :-) Here's the situation: I've got two workgroups, FLINTSTONE and RUBBLE which are on physically separate networks. FLINTSTONE has a Windows 2003 Active Directory domain controller; RUBBLE is a simple workgroup. All workstations are either Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional. There is no routing between these networks. However, there are two workst...

Question on LDAP+Samba+PDC
Hello everyone. Well, I have been working very hard lately, trying to get a server up to act as our Samba PDC with LDAP. So far, everything seems to be working well. I've been able to get samba 2.2.8 and openldap 2.0.27 installed with no problems. I've setup my config files (ldap.conf, slapd.conf, smb.conf) as well as added some initial entries to the LDAP directory. I've been

Simply Getting Post Params
I am a complete Rails newbie and am trying to understand how I can simply get the data from a password field in a form that is not mapped to a field in the database. The scenario is this. I have a User model that is mapped to a table users with the following fields: username, email_address, password and join_dt. Following pretty closely to the login section in the Agile Web Development with

why is dovecot "Allowing any password"
...e is being either lazy or intentionally breaking security for nefarious purposes. I'd walk away. -- Lister: What d'ya think of Betty? Cat: Betty Rubble? Well, I would go with Betty... but I'd be thinking of Wilma. Lister: This is crazy. Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone? Cat: You're right. We're nuts. This is an insane conversation. Lister: She'll never leave Fred, and we know it.

Window function (again)
Hello, I'm searching some information about the Vorbis window function. I have read the following post from the mailing list archive (July 2003) where the function and its proof was explained: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/vorbis-dev/2003-July/007588.html Everything apart from one small passage was clear to me. f^2(x) + f^2(n/2+x) = 1 <=> f^2(x) + f^2(n/2-x) = 1 <-- here in
