bug? rsync counts inaccesible file as being transferred
hello,
with --stats, shouldn`t we differ between "number of files transferred" and "number of files failed" ?
the problem is, that i have files which ALWAYS fail on transfer, and to check for "number of files failed"<=2 would be the best way for me to check if the overall transfer was ok.
if i magaged to create a patch to adress this, would such patch be

rsync speedup - how ?
Hello,
i`m using rsync to sync large virtual machine files from one esx server to another.
rsync is running inside the so called "esx console" which is basically a specially crafted linux vm with some restrictions.
the speed is "reasonable", but i guess it`s not the optimum - at least i don?t know where the bottleneck is.
i`m not using ssh as transport but run rsync in

routing problems with two SDSL-connections
Hello List,
in our office we have two independant SDSL-connections.
One of them is a flatrate, the other is a dedicated line to our webfarm.
The goal is to route all the traffic to the webfarm through the
dedicated line and all other traffic through the flatrate.
The maschine has three nics:
eth0: internal network
eth1: webfarm
eth2: flatrate
Each connection uses its own router. It is possible

Negbin Error Warnings
Hi,
I ran a negative binomial regression (NBR) using the Zelig-package and the negbin model.
When I then try to use the simumlation approach using the setx () and sim() functions to calculate expected values
and first difference for different levels of one of my independent variables, I get 50 errors warnings, telling me that the calculation rpois produced NAs. However, the data I use

DID - Panama
I need a low monthly rate DID in Panama.
Maybe 2-3 inbound calls a day max. 1-2 outbound calls a day only.
Will be rarely used but needs to be very good quality and needs
longevity of business (eg this number is going into print so company
needs to be around for a while).
Please email with rates and details.
Cheers,
Dean

High CPU usage
Hi Jean-Marc,
I tried to add VERY_SMALL at the input of the encoder, but that did not change much.
Here's a list of source code locations where denormals appear for the first time as calculation results.
This list is based on a 4 minutes recording of ambient sound that is passed to speexenc 1.2rc1 with the command line
--narrowband --denoise --agc --abr 15000

Problems with lqs()
Dear List-Members,
I have a problem with the function lqs() from package MASS. In some cases it produces different results for the same settings and needs a random seed to be set, in other cases not.
I really cannot understand, why this happens. As well I do not understand what exactly you need the random seed for. Is it a starting point for iterations? Or do different results occur because of

Using outer with function predict
Hey everybody,
I have a problem with the combination of the commands outer() and predict(). I want to visualize the solutions of a regression modell in a matrix. Therefore I want to use the command predict for a linear modell as the function inside the command outer. I've made a small example:
x = 1:10
y = 11:20
z = rnorm(10)
lm.1 = lm(z ~ x*y)

termplot and ylim
Hi together,
I always get an error message with using ylim in termplot(), like this:
> x<-(1:10)
> y<-(10:1)
> l<-lm(y~x)
> termplot(l,ylim=c(1,2))
Is this a bug, or is there another possibility to do that? Especially, I would like to use term.plot() for gamlss objects.
Thanks for your help!

Interface R <--> Processing
Dear Group members
I was wondering whether there is any interface to use processing (www.processing.org) to visualize R analyses?
If so could somebody point me to relevant ressources?
If not, are there any attempts to build such an interface / package?
Best Regards,
Simon

Flat Rate Long Distance Providers
We are looking for a flatrate long distance provider to integrte with a
hosted Asterisk implementation. I would like to have a SIP/IAX handoff to
whatever carrier. We want the ability to turn LD to any of our subscribers
for a flat rate as well. This request is for USA only. Int'l would be a
per minute basis.
Any sugggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Can the hole, fixed in latest libvorbis version, be triggered via webradio?
Hello,
I'm talking about the following hole:
http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2009-2663
In Slackware 12.2, so far, the current libvorbis version is still 1.2.0.
My question is: I don't use ".OGG" files, but I regularly listen to a OGG webstream. Am I secure in this situation or could a corrupted webstream trigger the discussed bug?
Thanks in advance

WINBIND
hello,
I have a Linux Client (debian sarge) which shares a folder via Samba
(3.0.14a).
A remote client who wants to mount that share needs to authenticate himself.
Like in: mount -t smbfs -o username=user1,password=secret
My Samba now have to check the auth against a Active directory.
Now my question:
Do I need winbind on my client?
Because, winbind only maps sid to uid and uid to sid.
In case
