CentOS to reside near a NTFS system
...d* PC (Turion 64 MT-32 800MHz, 1Gb RAM) of my gf is running
Windows XP, and I plan on installing a CentOS beside of it, allowing
her to select the OS at boot-time. Other system/OS installing options
are not retained, please avoid ;-).
My first attempt was to install the CentOS7 GNOME-Live on a USB
flashdisk and to boot it on the machine. It was either freezing at grub
stage (!?) or later at GDM login stage. I gave up.
Then I installed the CentOS6 LiveCD on the USB flashdisk, and booted in
on the machine. Works fine so far, but it cannot mount the Windows NTFS
partition (unknown partition type - no NT...

mbr to flash
...TRZB) if you want.
Questions 1:
I didnt find out how to put the DOS mbr, delivered with SYSLINUX, to my
bootdevice. What is the right command?
Question 2:
When I want to use PXELINUX with a BIOS that does not support Network boot via
PXE is it possible to write a PXE boot stack to a floppy (or flashdisk) to
use it? OK, Etherboot does work but PXELINUX is more elegant ;-).
Thank you in advance

syslinux tool for Win2k and 'safeboot' option
...rying to write to bootsector(most likely a permission-problem).
In the user-notes for syslinux, it says that this can be ignored and that it
is likely to work anyway. I have now tried on 3 different systems without
luck(Win2k/sp2).
Has anybody made a version of syslinux.com that works on win2k on flashdisks
??
2.
Is it possible to setup syslinux.cfg for some kind of safeboot, so for
instance you could have 2 labels for kernel and if the system don't
properly from the first, then boot from the other on next boot ?? This could
be made with some kind of a flag in memory and a small utility to be c...
