Storing passwords in LDAP, but not a PDC
Hello,
Is it possible to store samba passwords in ldap without configuring
samba as a PDC? All the documents/references I've come across are
related to using LDAP as a samba PDC backend, not as just a db file
replacement.
Thanks,

no Xen packages for i386
...hine, that the i386 packages had disappeared from debian
from jessie onwards.
I was wondering about the reason for this disappearance. Is it because
upstream cut off support for 32 bit systems? I scratched really fast on
the bug reports and couldn't see one that talked about this.

Nagios purge deleted items and notify nagios service problem
I am using stored configs to manage my nagios host and services checks and
I have run into a problem that I have been unable to solve. When the
stored configs are purged from puppet the nagios server correctly removes
them from the services and hosts file but does not notify the nagios
service and instead throws an error. So the entries are still there and
nagios still reports on them until

How does Asterisk choose the CDr backend to use?
...installed, how does Asterisk know which one to choose? Does it
choose which ever one is configured are forget about the rest or will it
send a CDR to each configured backend?
(I'd just go ahead and try it but I don't have an Asterisk server I can
"play" will right now.)

Puppet SSL cipher suites
Hey there,
I looked up puppet.conf documentation and there doesn''t seem to be any
option to choose which SSL cipher suites are used for communication.
Is there some way to configure which cipher suites are preferred?

Variable Scope in classes
I think I have a misunderstanding of variable scope in classes.
Wy isn''t tfel4_ClusterDbType set in the elements::tfel4::elements
class? It''s set in elements::tfel4::defaults but then goes *poof* when
elements::tfel4::elements tries to access it.
class elements::tfel4::defaults {
if ( !$tfel4_ClusterDbType ) {
$tfel4_ClusterDbType = "oracle"
}

Concatenated key
Hi all,
I started playing a couple days ago with Rails and it find it very
interesting.
But I''m a bit stuck with making it work with a concatenated primary key.
I want to use my own names for the DB fields and I''m using SQL Server
2005.
My tables look roughly like this:
CREATE TABLE USERS (
USR_ID VARCHAR(25) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
USR_PASS VARCHAR(25)
)

Is there a way to push/copy a file from client to master ?
I am dealing with SSL certificates for secure rsyslog that need to be created on each machine and then collected onto the logging server.
Getting a file from puppetmaster to client is trivial, but how do I reverse the process ?

Could not find class, code-blind
I''m troubled with a node-definition not able to resolve a class:

Asterisk & Festival, not a happy couple
Hello,
I'm in the process of trying to get Festival to work with Asterisk. I
followed the install process at
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+festival+installation. To get the
Festival to compile I had to add the patch described in the comments.
Once added, Festival and the Speech tools compiled without error.
How ever, when ever I try to call the test extension, I get a busy

Deleted remote directories not being removed locally
Hi,
I'm using the following command to grab a list of directories, not their
contents, from a source server and create them locally(a backup server)
rsync -v --stats -d --include='+ */' --include='- *' --force
--delete-during --backup \
--backup-dir=/mnt/backups/_DELETED 192.168.0.2::'ucp/*' .
It recreates the list of directories locally with out a problem.

Bug#639941: Xen "line 118: sigerr: command not found" error for unassigned network interfaces
...but in my case, each interface that is setup with a bridge already has
an IP assigned to it via /etc/network/interfaces
but regardless of the error, the networking setup actually works. it's
just annoying to have to wait so long for the command to complete during
the boot process.

Up and running with puppet
I am just getting started with Puppet, went through the install on a
SuSE Linux (11.1) system.
I wanted to use the web console but run into this error:
"Ruby on Rails application could not be started"
"Permission denied - /opt/puppet/share/puppet-dashboard/config/
database.yml"
I''ve checked the permissions on this yml, changed it to 777 for good
measure but still
