"Distribution" of filespace
Hi,
I have the following problem: there are many seldom used machines in our
workgroup with a lot of filespace unused (running NT Workstation). Is there
a possibility to mount shares from this machines on a linux server and then
"redistribute" this filespace to other machines? First I tried to use the
Microsoft DFS-Service to collect the shares and then mount the DFS-share via
Samba, but this does...

truecrypt on synology as subfolder
...nd I get an even stranger error in a
certain sense.
From the "top level" samba share, the subdirectory that has LUKS
mounted, doesn't show any files.
However, when I create another share directly on the mounted LUKS
subfolder, the files are there.
So the transition from regular filespace to LUKS filespaces (different
volume) is not getting this LUKS filespace to appear empty to Samba, but
not to the linux system itself. Is this to be expected?
Is that normal operation, this?
Regards.
ps. it is not a great problem because the intent is probably going to be

Printing and Sharing
...ssword:
tree connect failed: ERRDOS - ERRnosuchshare (You specified an invalid share
name)
SMB connection failed
Now I know that the share on jdph5 is correct, because I can browse it using
smbclient. So I'm wondering if I'm using the wrong command, or if I need to
make /mnt/smb a shared filespace, if so how do I do that?
Also wondering about printers....I've got all the access rights and so
forth, but I need to mount some printers...and I'm little more then confused
on how to do this. Any help on either of these two issues is much
appreciated

Excellent! ;)
I would like to propose a feature request of adding filespace ACLs to tftpd-hpa.
Example:
I serve data out of /srv/tftp. I only want clients 192.168.1.0/24 to
have read access to /srv/tftp/data_1 and only want clients
192.168.2.0/24 to have read access to /srv/tftp/data_2.
Configuration:
One could create a new config file and command-line option, but I

against CRAN policy.
These defaults can be overridden by setting the environmental
variables R_USER_DATA_DIR , R_USER_CONFIG_DIR, R_USER_CACHE_DIR,
respectively.
If R developers should be using the locations provided by

opendir(somedir/somefile): Not enough space -- why?
I am attempting to use rsync to copy a large filesystem from an
HP-UX server to a Linux server with more than enough filespace.
This operation fails. A small directory from the same HP-UX server
can be transfered just as expected.
The HP-UX server is the source. It has 1Gb RAM - the output of bdf for
the volume the source files is on is:

Checking the existence of a file
Is there a platform-independent way of checking in R whether a
given file exists in the user's filespace?
(so in a unix system, can you check within R whather, say,
/homef/jonm/thisfile
exists)
Thanks

Q: Share Definitions, how to make a 'truely public' area

Overlaying acls onto a share.
Not sure if this is what I'm looking for but if it's possible with samba,
I'd appreciate pointers at the correct documentation.
We've got a bunch of filespace shared out onto our samba server from
a fileserver that doesn't support ACLs, we're stuck using basic rwxr-x----
type permissions.
Each share is assigned to a Unit so we've controlled access by group and put
members of the unit into the group or just listed the users.
However, the uni...

truecrypt on synology as subfolder
Just a small question.
==============
I was really just meaning to ask whether there are issues with running
truecrypt inside a samba share.
My system had never had any issues but now I was writing to a folder
that is a truecrypt mount inside a samba share and the smbd process
writing into it blocked or is still "D" waiting for IO and I cannot kill
it.
So the question was whether

There are other problems with using a samba4 DC as a fileserver, there
have been reports of excessive use of filespace that goes away after a
reboot, for instance.
