Max filesystem size for ext3 using Adaptec RAID 5 on 64 bit CentOS
We are strategizing a set of backup servers and I have been trying to deduce wha the maximum size of each RAID 5 array should be to match the OS we are using. We are currently running CentOS 4.3 64 bit. We have planned a 2 TB RAID 5 array for testing but we will need to set up several larger ones for production. I have poked around and I see people mention limits like 2TB max file size and 32TB

system shutdown - turning off quotas takes a long time
Hi, recently I had to instal a new raid storage system for our central fileserver. It is connected by iscsi (1Gbit) and the fielsystems mounted are 400GB and 1TB and ext3. curretly about 400 GB are used by 1.5 Mio files. I turned quota on and did a quota check. BUT on reboot the system crashes/hangs during 'turning off quotas' This message shows up about 30++ sec after the shutdown ... Any idea? Hint? Suggestion? The s...

OCFS Database too slow
Hi All, we are using Red Hat 2.1 Kernel e38 along with MSA 1000. ocfs version being used is $ rpm -qa | grep ocfs ocfs-tools-1.0.10-1 ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.12-1 ocfs-support-1.0.10-1 Database Version is 9.2.0.5 However we find that the performance of the database on OCFS is too slow. even a select count(1) from all_tables takes like a while to complete. We initially assumed RAC is

OCFS filesystem used 7%
Hi all... I have a strange problem. 2 of my mount points already use 7% of space, even when I check the directory is empty. When I re-format it, it release the space for a while, after 1 or 2 days, the space is used again for 7% - 10 %. What could be the reason? I am using RHAS 2.1 Enterprise Kernel 2.1 and OCFS release 1.0.9-6 Thanks Jeram

using FAI and XEN?
Is anyone using FAI <http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/> to install DomU''s? Our infrastructure is based heavily on using FAI for reproducing server configs so consolidating servers would go much nicer if if we could build the DomU''s with FAI. I''ve not put too much effort into solving my problems yet as I hope someone else ahs solved them for me :) The DomU

too. However, when I mount the share via smbfs (on a Linux box, of course), the same file is 2.0T as reported by du (ie: du -csh), 18446744072754680087 bytes as reported by ls, but is only 3340095767 bytes as reported by stat. Further comparison of stat results of the same file via smbfs and directly are intriguing. directly (ie: on the server): Size: 3340095767 Blocks: 6523640 IO Block: 4096
