Max filesystem size for ext3 using Adaptec RAID 5 on 64 bit CentOS
...uction. I have poked around and I see
people mention limits like 2TB max file size and 32TB max filesystem
size. Many of these were mention 2.4/2,5 kernels and neither specified
32 bit vs 64 bit.
Can someone please provide the following:

system shutdown - turning off quotas takes a long time
Hi,
recently I had to instal a new raid storage system for our central
fileserver. It is connected by iscsi (1Gbit) and the fielsystems mounted
are 400GB and 1TB and ext3. curretly about 400 GB are used by 1.5 Mio files.
I turned quota on and did a quota check.
BUT on reboot the system crashes/hangs during 'turning off quotas'
This message shows up about 30++ sec after the shutdown ...
Any idea? Hint? Suggestion?

OCFS Database too slow
Hi All,
we are using Red Hat 2.1 Kernel e38 along with MSA 1000.
ocfs version being used is
$ rpm -qa | grep ocfs
ocfs-tools-1.0.10-1
ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.12-1
ocfs-support-1.0.10-1
Database Version is 9.2.0.5
However we find that the performance of the database on OCFS is too slow. even a select count(1) from all_tables takes like a while to complete.
We initially assumed RAC is

OCFS filesystem used 7%
Hi all...
I have a strange problem. 2 of my mount points already use 7% of space, even
when I check the directory is empty.
When I re-format it, it release the space for a while, after 1 or 2 days,
the space is used again for 7% - 10 %.
What could be the reason?
I am using RHAS 2.1 Enterprise Kernel 2.1 and OCFS release 1.0.9-6
Thanks

using FAI and XEN?
...and production
(/dev/sda1 root) which is a little awkward.
Is anyone doing this?
It would be nice to have boot priorities for DomU''s so if the primary
boot device is blank then a secondary device is used for boot
strapping. Since the kernel is actually coming from the Dom0''s
fielsystem this probably isn''t trivial though.

...compare the two
files (cmp and diff bail out because of the filesizes), probably using
md5sum. I can't do this right now because it's hogging the system and
taking forever.
The smaller files seem to be okay. I tested an arbitrary file using md5sum
and the "view" of smbfs and the fielsystem are the same.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! :)
