Regression models w/ splines
...for new subjects when using these types of models? I have encountered similar problems when trying to use smoothing splines w/ the above examples (i.e., 'pspline' in the survival package). I am currently using R version 1.8.1 for windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated! John John Fieberg, Ph.D. Wildlife Biometrician, MN DNR 5463-C W. Ordinal data - Regression Trees & Proportional Odds
...homogeneity of variance. For this data set, it will be difficult to find an appropriate transformation, given the large number of responses near 10 (i.e., the fact that the data are constrained to be less than or equal to 10 results in strange residual plots). Any help is much appreciated! John Fieberg, Ph.D. Wildlife Biometrician, Minnesota DNR 5463-C W. Broadway Forest Lake, MN 55434

Does anyone have examples using locfit w/ the "ev" option or predict.locfit in order to obtain local likelihood density estimates at an arbitrary set of grid points? lme parameterization question
Hi, I am trying to parameterize the following mixed model (following Piepho and Ogutu 2002), to test for a trend over time, using multiple sites: y[ij]=mu+b[j]+a[i]+w[j]*(beta +t[i])+c[ij] where: y[ij]= a response variable at site i and year j mu = fixed intercept Beta=fixed slope w[j]=constant representing the jth year (covariate) b[j]=random effect of jth year, iid N(0,sigma2[b]) a[i]=random

...et of rxs tables. In addition, I would like to use row and column scores to test for a linear association between row and column variables. For SAS users, these correspond to the "row mean score test" and "nonzero correlation tests" available in Proc Freq. Thanks! John John Fieberg, Ph.D. Wildlife Biometrician, MN DNR 5463-C W. Ordinal data - Regression Trees & Proportional Odds
Dear Dr. Fieberg, you used a regression tree approach to explore ordinal data set in addition to the proportinal odds model. I find this very interesting. I would like to know, how good the results of the regression tree approach turned out in comparison to the proportional odds model. Since people very often t...

Help w/ termplot & predict.coxph/ns
...cph and have had problems w/ cph when trying to fit more complicated (conditional) models w/ multiple obs per subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using R version 1.7.1 on Windows 2000. I would be glad to share the data set and code directly if it would be helpful. John John Fieberg, Ph.D. Wildlife Biometrician, MN DNR 5463-C W.
