SYSLINUX 3.02-pre1 released
...the .lnx (test modules for running under Linux) as architecture native modules, in case i386 devel libraries aren't installed. * EXTLINUX: Hack for systems which don't have BLKGETSIZE64 defined in the standard header files. I'd like to let 3.01 fester a bit longer before pushing out yet another release, but if there are more problems please let me know as soon as possible. -hpa

[ANNOUNCE] xfontsel 1.0.5
The xfontsel application provides a menu-based GUI to display the X11 core protocol fonts known to your X server, examine samples of each, and retrieve the X Logical Font Description ("XLFD") full name for a font. This minor bugfix release finally fixes my long-festering pet peeve with this tool - when a font fails to load, it will now continue to update the text sample area instead of letting it accumulate menu images and other failed repaint turds. There's a few other small changes too, but no one will notice them. Alan Coopersmith (6): Combine us...

Intel ICH7 SMBus support, ichsmb(4)
Hi there, I have been looking at a system which has the Intel ICH7 south bridge. Whenever I try to probe the SMBus on this system with 'smbmsg -p', I get a lot of status=41 timeout messages in dmesg from the ichsmb(4) driver. I have been given the addresses of the SMBus peripherals and have tried initiating reads to their register space directly using 'smbmsg', with the same

comment field proposal
Well, this is a bit stronger than a proposal; this is "what I plan to do unless people see obvious flaws I missed"... The text comment header is the second (of three) header packets that begin a Vorbis bitstream. It is meant for short, text comments, not arbitrary metadata; arbitrary metadata will be put in a metadata stream, likely an XML stream type. We've discussed this in
