request: add TCP buffer options to rsync CLI?

If I've totally missed something, and such functionality is already
available, my apologies (but I'd appreciate a pointer!)

More detail:
I was helping resolve a throughput issue between a research network
in France (Renater), and FermiLab in the US (Tridge- Dan Yokum says "hi!").
FermiLab distributes data from the Sloane Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)
using rsync. (cf. www.sdss.org, and

for the rsync reference).
Renater was using rsync to pull large amounts of data from Fe...

guest os time drift wild
HI, guys
Recently,I met a problem.
Xen''s version: 3.4.3
guest os:redhat 4.8 32bit
And xen.independent_wallclock = 1 has been set.
The time of guest os change to be fast suddenly, about 2000 second.
because the change is too wild, ntp didn''t sync to the ntp server''s time.
my application is dependent on the systme time. And this occurs a lot of times.

connecting to running process possible?
Hello,
i'm trying to find a more modern system to reproduce the functionality that
was available through the Histoscope program (from Fermilab). Namely, the
capability of connecting to a running process and having plots update in
realtime in response to new data. Is this possible with R? Thank you,

Scientific Linux
Greetings!
I have just signed up to r-sig-fedora because I have
installed Scientific Linux 6.2 (my first Red Hat based
Linux since over 10 years ago ... ). I'm trying this for
basically 2 reasons: first, I expect CERN and FermiLab
should do a good job of maintaining their distribution,
and in particular to take care of its compatibility with
scientific software; second, because it still has Gnome 2 ...
I installed it off the Live DVD from the Scientific Linux
website, and this went very smoothly. However, it does not

Host does not support virtualization type 'xen'
Hello Community,
I successfully installed and run xen (xm list and xm info can output
appropriately).
However, while I was installing domU image by using virt-install -p at
domU OS. I encountered an
error information" Host does not support virtualization type ''xen'' ".
I built xen from source. Some of my friends have the same issue, but if
they use pre-build xen, the

For me it's clear that RHEL and certain clones/forks are here to stay.
Large enterprises or institutions like CERN and Fermilab will continue to

goes for a lot of SMEs and private users.
It will be interesting to see what turns out to be the new Gold standard.

Problem when running 32 on 64
Hi,
I have been able to run 32 bit virtual machines on a 64 bit machine
quite nicely with xen3.1 but sometimes when running yum the messages
"do_wp_page: bogus page at address 0070d638" and "kernel: VM: killing
process yum" and yum just stops working. I also get Kernel Panic.
Does anyone have any idea, what could be the probem?
Thanks,
Ricardo

Anybody running cadence on CentOS 6 ?
Hi all.
So.. as the problem with the video driver and CentOS 5 seems to be hard
to solve, I'll try to migrate to CentOS 6.
I'd like to ask if anybody is successfully running cadence and plugins
on CentOS 6 and if it is running as well as it was on CentOS 5..
If any, what problems may I see running cadence on CentOS 6 ?
Thank you very much!

Linux distributions supported by Xen as PVM domUs
Hi:
Reading Red Hat''s Website and a printed manual of RH184 (Red Hat
Virtualization course) I see that RHEL 5 only supports RHEL 4.5 and
RHEL 5 as paravirtualized guests. So I asume this is the same
situation for CentOS 5, right?
What''s the dependency between Xen versions for paravirtualized guests?
I ask this questions because I got this experiences:
1. Running CentOS 5 as
