Vote for CentOS - AGAIN :)
The preliminary round voting is completed in the "2005 Readers' Choice Awards" at Linux Journal. CentOS was nominated in the "distribution:" category along with 18 other Linux distros ... and we finished in the top 3 (along with Ubuntu and FedoraCore). Thanks to every one who voted for CentOS. I really did not expect that we would be on the final ballot, though I am honored that we are. Now, lets do it again, and shock the world :) Please go to Linux Journal and vote for CentOS !!! http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8272 --------------...

File share access problems
...th an invalid parameter. Just to see if there was any corruption in the files, we've copied one word document using ssh from the samba server to the desktop of a PC and it opens fine in Word, so its not that the disk and/or files are corrupted....I think... I'm running Samba 3.0.24-11 on FedoraCore 6. I've run yum and it says there are no new updates available. (I think I'd run it fairly recently so I'm not surprised there were no new updates.) How do I go about trouble shooting this problem? thanks -- Dean

wctdm module won't load after kernel upgrade
Hi all, I have installed a TDM22B on an IBM xSeries 220 with FedoraCore 3 and setup asterisk cvs head to work properly. A few days ago, I tried to update the system kernel to 2.6.12 from 2.6.9 and also to change to asterisk stable 1.0.9. After compiling zaptel and asterisk, i loaded zaptel and tried to load the wctdm module but this failed with the following message:...

Greetings ... It seems I have really got myself confused ... I have a Win2K3 ADS domain, I have two FedoraCore systems, one with Samba 3.0.0 and the other with Samba 3.0.1. Both give me the same problem. If I try access the Samba shares from Win2K3 using the host number, I get prompted for a username and password, and no matter what I type in, I can't get in. If I use the Samba server IP...

Caching doesn''t work at all...
...</head> <body> <p>Test</p> <p><%= controller.action_name %></p> <p><%= @string %></p> </body> </html> does work in development mode with caching turned on under WinXP with Webrick. It does not work in lighttpd with fastcgi on FedoraCore. I already browsed through the various log but no obvious errors were to be seen. And Rails / Ruby is able to write into the public directory (as another script of mine puts to good effect). So, does anyone know where the problem might lie? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Wine Clipboard Problem
...ation and paste it in application running under Wine (e.g. Notepad), the russian characters (believe any cyrillic characters) got messed up and are replaced by some kind of unicode characters (e.g.\x{043F}\x{0440}\x{043E}\x{0431}\x{043B}\x{0435}\x{043C}\H). The system locale is KOI8-R, using RedHat FedoraCore 1.0 and wine-20040213. Thank you for your assistance.

OpenOffice.org bug in version openoffice.org-1.1.0-15.EL
...bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=122263 Basically, edit the file /usr/bin/ooffice and find <value>'$lang'</value> then replace it with <value>$lang</value>. I have tested this on both CentOS and WhiteBox Enterprise Linux and the fix works. This error has been corrected in FedoraCore with version openoffice.org-1.1.0-16. Supposedly to be released soon for RHEL...but if you can't wait, fix it now. -Johnny Hughes -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Disable Console Audio
Hi, I'm using FedoraCore 1 for Asterisk 1.0. I assume that Asterisk accesses default audio device (say, /dev/dsp0) as audio capture device by application's default. (correct me, if I'm wrong on this) What I want to do is to let other audio capturing application (that is real producer, BTW) use Linux Box's def...

zaptel-1.4.0-beta2 Getting it to compile on Fedora Core 6 _64bit
I keep running into the dead end that it can't find config.h in the source tree. It looks like newer kernels don't use it anymore. Someone ran into this awhile back when compiling 1.2 and it looks as though the issue was never resolved. Any ideas? Last time I tried this, I was on fedora core 5 64bit and all went well. It's not working on this newer setup Any ideas on what I can do

Red Hat release info
Hi all, I''m looking at changing the operatingsystemrelease fact for Red Hat. Linux currently just uses the kernel release as the operating system release, but I''ve got a client who wants the release to have both the specific distro (e.g., AS or EL) and the release (e.g., 3 or 4). Will this particularly annoy anyone? Anyone want to help make the release string work on

sharing NFS mounts
OK, I've been searching the archives and google with little luck... I have a directory which needs to be shared with a number of UNIX clients via NFS and with Windows clients via Samba. What is the best way to do this? Should I configure Samba to share the actual NFS mount? Or should I configure Samba to share the actual filesystem directory? Reason I ask, we were using the former method
