Vacation Fcc
Hi list, I use Dovecot's Pigeonhole Sieve implementation, and there is one little feature I'm missing: When a vacation message is sent, I'd like to keep a copy of that message in my "sent" mailbox. There is an RFC draft (draft-ietf-extra-sieve-fcc-09) for this, which adds a ":fcc" argument to vacation, but apparently it's not supported by Pigeonhole. I have two questions: Will ":fcc" be supported in the future? In the meantime (or if supporting ":fcc" is not planned), is it possible to achieve the same...

CRTC and FCC Feeds
I don't understand why so many government sites fail to provide some sort of feed to their daily bulletins. What I am venting about in specific are the Canadian CRTC and FCC sites, every day I have to go to the website and when I reach the content, usually it isn't even HTML but a Word or PDF file. So finally today I decided to do something about it and wrote a little app that scrapes their daily releases and displays the information in blogger so I can just add th...

FCC Rules VoIP Must Be Tappable
...03 Probably some of you already saw this. Now, beyond discussions regarding the legitimacy of such a ruling (whether they have the legal, moral or whatever right to enforce it), there's the technical aspect. Suppose i provide VoIP services using Asterisk, and i fall under the incidence of the FCC ruling and i have to provide a tap to the guys in the black helicopters. What are the guidelines, what should i do to ensure i won't get spanked because i obstructed the justice or some such. More precisely, what config bits must be put in place to make sure there's always an easy way, with...

FCC/Euro/Aussie approvals on TE410P
I just got back from Boston where we completed testing of the TE410P for FCC, Euro, and Australian approvals, and I'm happy to say we passed all our approvals (including Q.921 and Q.931 layers, i.e. libpri as well as surges) for both telco and leased line applications. Hopefully we'll have the official documents soon, but I know there are a lot of you out there tha...

Re: FRS radios on *
...one jack with a phone-patch-type device > be considered a modification for radios with vox capability? It seems dumb, but that's the way the rules are written. A patch would be "other apparatus" wouldn't it? Sec. 95.*194* (*FRS* Rule 4) *FRS* units. (a) You may only use an FCC certified *FRS* unit. (You can identify an FCC certified *FRS* unit by the label placed on it by the manufacturer.) (b) You must not make, or have made, any internal modification to an *FRS* unit. Any internal modification cancels the FCC certification and voids your authority to operate the unit i...

The sad state of samba 4 adaption for home/small business routers.

That's the whole point of GPLv3 - no > DRM. > > If you find a Samba device using any Samba 3.2 or > newer that doesn't allow you to replace it, please > let us know so we can start the compliance process. I wonder how that will play out with the new US FCC rules causing some manufacturers to disallow installing 3rd party firmware: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2016/03/tp-link-blocks-open-source-router-firmware-to-comply-with-new-fcc-rule/ Maybe they will just not include samba, or other GPLv3 software?

PCPine performs illegal operation writing fcc over samba
...me. :) PCPine is installed on a network drive (Y:) here. It is run from Windows 95 boxes. The users account is on a network drive (U:). Both Y: and U: are alpha boxes running Samba. When pine sends email, it gets an "illegal operation" error and is shut down after writing the "fcc". If I explicitly turn off the fcc then pine runs normally and send email without exiting. The samba version is 2.2.0-alpha3. I'm not sure exactly what is going on, but it looks like the samba seems to get some weird oplock errors. I am attaching a logfile (level 3) from the U: samba for...

Stir-Shaken for asterisk
In a few weeks, no SIP call is going to terminate unless they are signed properly, as mandated by law. We are in the business of Stir-Shaken, signing calls, as an FCC-approved provider. A big differentiator between our service and the rest: we are the only ones who don't need to receive the calls in our servers to sign them. We do this over a MySQL call, easily connectable to Asterisk via res_odbc, so you never have to send us your calls. This is a sample of...
