AAH not getting IP address, likely to be network card?
...address. I've used different cables. Everything else can access the network.
Network card in the AAH box lights up green!
Before I naff around changing the network card, as anyone got any useful thoughts. I think when I pulled out the cable, the card went on the blink..!
AAH has been running faultlessly before..!
Should have left the bloody cable at start.
Regards
Brian.

FW: desperate help needed - Samba and security = share
...e about 10 users defined on the
server - service, parts, admin etc.
Then for each user PC (approx 120 - 150) I then map a network drive to each
service that is required. Many only have one or two but some people such as
admin have access to sales, accounts, wages and admin.
All very simple and faultless for 8 years.
Now, when I try some of the examples found online, client PCs seem to be able
to connect to the first share ok but then whenever I try to connect a second
share it complains about having to log out of the first share first.
Can anyone please help me here. If I can't get it work...

hard disk install failure
.../CentOS-5.6/initrd.img
----------------------------
The repo option was ignored, and I was asked if I wanted to install by FTP,
from Hard Disk, etc.
In the end I installed by http from my web-server, after
mount -o loop CentOS-5.6-x86_64-bin-DVD-1of2.iso /var/www/html/
on the server .
This worked faultlessly, and seems to be by far the easiest way
to install CentOS or Fedora if a local web-server is available.

smbldap-passwd - Failed to modify SMB password: Insufficient access
...New password:
Retype new password:
Failed to modify SMB password: Insufficient access at
/usr/sbin/smbldap-passwd line 182, <STDIN> line 3.
Please note that this was happening with version 0.9.10-6 of
smbldap-tools but also with version 0.9.11-1.
Running the same command as root works faultlessly.
Changing the password as an unprivileged user with smbpasswd also works fine.
Could you give me a hand to troubleshoot this thorny issue?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Daniele Rispoli

Big THANKYOU to Dovecot development team
Time for a positive message. As a (very) part time administrator of a
small network running on an ecclectic bunch of machines I'd like to
thank the dovecot team for developing such an easy to use and
faultlessly functional product. Having been forced into finally
replacing my UW IMAP server, I'm glad to have hit on Dovecot after
struggling with mailbox transfer issues with cyrus and almost tearing my
hair out.
On my Fedora4 server, Dovecot was running withing a minute and reading
all my folders...

Problem with a web page at gmane.
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.search.xapian.general/6933
For some reason the links on that page include the trailing periods so
clicking on them will give you a 404 error. Can this be fixed?
Thanks,
Jim.

SYSLINUX based Antivir Boot-CD does not start
...boot:
Loading rootimg.gz ......................
Loading linux..........
Boot failed: please change disks and press a key to continue
A comparison of this "failure" boot CD with another one, which was
created by the same program and working faultlessly on my PC showed that
both have the files linux.boo and boot.catalog and
the folder avplinux.
The guys from G DATA resp.TANDEM couldn't tell me what to do.
Google and its groups also didn't know.
Can anybody tell me, what's going wrong or even knows a solution for the
problem?
TIA...

OpenSSH-1.2.3 AIX scp failure
...Z=GMT0BST: A file or directory in the path name does not
exist.

debug: Bytes per second: stdin 0.0, stdout 918.2, stderr 0.0
debug: Exit status 127
lost connection
If I set UseLogin to "no" the error goes and scp works faultlessly. Looks
to be a problem initializing the environment. Changing my shell from Bash
to ksh or bsh results in a stall right after the "Entering interactive
session."
SSH works perfectly -- I can't wait to see protocol 2 integrated!
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks,

Not knowing wether anybody among you had noticed yet the phenomenon when

I have a P III. PC desktop with FC4 running on it for a year or so.That

Recently I sensed and set about a release renewal and installed RC6

Halo,
Please can you explain why this is advantage over a hardware load balancer.
I fail to see advantage if anything it add in more point of failure, with
several hundred thousand user, we can ill afford to mess around or add to
complexity, sometime keeping it simple is simply way to be, when use
qmail/vpopmail, we never had one failure or problem, ever, we very proud of
this record so our users.

CentOS 6.4 login after reboot after apcupsd shutdown - shows POWER FAILURE
Hi list,
just putting a new server through its automatic shutdown triggered by
the UPS / apcupsd.
All worked faultlessly, including powering up when power came back on to
the UPS.
So then I go to log in and get "POWER FAILURE" followed by
"Authentication failure" - this is on the console
via SSH I just get "POWER FAILURE" and the ssh connection drops.
So I guess the, log everyone...

v2.0.9 -segfault in lib21_fts_solr_plugin.so (G.Nau)
...D? I suppose we could, but it's not as easy as it sounds for us. (your mileage may vary). It would take significant amounts of engineering time, testing, migrating, etc etc. And the benefits are uncertain. We dont know if an open source HA alternative can give us another 12 years of virtually faultless operation. It may. It may not. Email is not something to start gambling with. People get kind of upset when their email disappears. We know what we've got with Netapp.

Puppet/webrick benchmark
We haven''t been able to use mongrel for testing yet, but in order not to
waste time, we did some performance testing with 1, 2 and 4
puppetmasterd/webrick processes.
Attached is an HTML page (ripped from our wiki - not pretty, but
reasonably readable) which describes the method and results.
If someone feels like making some nice graphs, that would be great. If
not, I''ll try to
