Power Users - Is it possible?
Is it possible to have 2000 windows machines reconize Domain Users under
the local Power Users group? Right now I'm using samba 3beta3. Do I
need kerberos support compiled in? Thanks for your help

Groups not mapping correctly.
...and also have the user be a secondary
member of pwruser, things don't work. The user never becomes a "Power
User".
I've installed samba on RH7.3 from a binary on the samba site.
Can someone please explain the function and flow of the group mapping,
much appreciated.

LDAP search failed: Size limit exceeded
...eeded
We are unable to browse users or groups which is a show stopper!!!
I have added the line "sizelimit -1" in slapd.conf and restarted the
ldap server but it doesn't seem to help.
I'm kind of desperate here guys:-) Can anyone shed some light on why
this happens?

SIP to IAX to SIP
Hi all,
I have a machine running Ubuntu that I run Asterisk 1.4.x on and it runs
very well. On that machine I have a SIP phone. I have configured a
netgear wgt634u with asterisk and a SIP phone and linked the two systems
together via IAX. Audio from Ubuntu to netgear is not bad, audio from
netgear to ubuntu is unintelligible. Any clues as to whether this will
work? Configuration suggestions?

Minimum password works but displays wrong.
...sword must be a minimum

It will display this even if "min password length" is set to 7.
You won't actually be able to have a password less than 7 but it
confuses the hell out of our users.
Is there something I'm missing? Is this a bug in Samba?

Can Samba join two domains?
Hi all,
If I have a Samba server that is say a PDC for domain DOM-A can I have
Samba join an ADS server that is DOM-B and have people authenticate
against it without having an account on DOM-A? Does winbind provide
this?

Local authentication when member server

and roaming profiles redirected in AD to the local samba member server.
Users that login are authenticated via winbind and AD.
I'm wondering if it is possible to have local users on the Samba system
in tdbsam or ldapsam. I did try but no luck so far.
Has anyone done this?

conflicting domain portions are not supported for NETLOGON calls

but when I login I get the above message and the user is not a Power

This is a stand alone version of samba, ie, no ldap or ads or other
servers involved. Samba is set for domain logons and works.

Samba topography question joining with ADS?
...I can then
connect a WINXP station to remote and login. I can even set the home
directory in AD to the local Samba machine which works.
What doesn't work.
1) Local accounts - can't get Samba to authenticate a local account.
Are local accounts possible in this situation?

Possible to add Voice delay?
Hi all,
This is my first post to the list.
I have searched the net far and wide but can't find an answer to this
problem.
When I have call forward working or use the voicemail from a SIP phone,
the first part of the message is always cut off. So instead of hearing
"call forward cancelled" I hear "l forward cancelled".
Or in voicemail I hear "edian mail"

What is the best route to take here. I could use winbind but I don't
want to lose the ability to create and manage local accounts.
Hope this makes sense.

All I nee is a top level view and then I should be able to configure the

All help appreciated.

Local accounts and AD
So has anyone been able to do this?
I have a Samba member server joined to AD on Win2003 server. I have
winXP workstations and one can login with their AD credentials but I
also want to allow users with local accounts on the Samba machine to be
able to login with winXP.
Is it possible?
If so I haven't been able to make it work and would appreciate some
pointers.

Connecting custom home shares with ADS.
...create the folder with "root preexec", however, there doesn't
seem to be a way to have the home mapped. In the log files it always
points to /home/domain/username no matter what is set from ADS.
Is it possible to have the home mapped differently? If so how?
Thank you

Samba 2.0.25 won't accept home directory location from ADS
Here at the College we have configured a Samba server as an ADS member
server and have everything working nicely except one rather large
detail.
The people that setup the domain accounts have custom "profile" and home
drive locations depending on the last two characters of the user name.
For example a user with the id of 545238794 will have their profile

File permissions for AD user that has been removed
What is supposed to happen to the ownership of files/directories of user in Active Directory on a Samba (3.6.6) share after the user has been removed from Active Directory? I see the userid is set to the uid number but admins on the share (not root) cannot remove directories owned by the user. As a root user I can delete the files or changed ownership. I would expect there is some way to make

Samba & Symantec Ghost
Hello,
I saw this posting by Christopher Robert Woods. I am having the identical
problem with Samba on Suse Linux 7.2 (OS/390). Is there any known
